I took Clippers points in Game 6 and they won outright in Salt Lake City to force decisive Game 7 back in LA. The role players (JJ Redick, Jamal Crawford, and Austin Rivers) finally got out their funk and contributed in a well played game for the Clippers. Now they go back to their home court to take the W and move onto the next round. Sounds great, eh?
Well only if NBA was that easy. These two teams are very evenly matched. Without BG, I'd give the upper hand to Jazz by a small margin. With the home court advantage for the Clippers, the line is where it should be. Especially with Jazz winning Game 5 in LA.
Here is the thing. Clippers historically didn't have much success in the playoffs. Yes, the Western Conference is the tougher one, but with the squad they've had and one of best PG in CP3, this is a big failure. How many Free Agents do they have after this season? Too many to name. BG and CP3 are two of them.
So the story-line goes, BG gets injured, AGAIN, and CP3 wills his team to Game 7. They go back to LA, and lose a game they should not according to Vegas and much of public. Then comes the drama. Where is BG going? Where is CP3 going? What about Redick? Is he retiring? Mbah a Moute? Mo Speights? Even though CP3 is determined to will his team to a victory, there is too much uncertainty for this team in the near future. So what if they advance to next round? They'll face the inevitable crushing defeat at the hands of GS Warriors.
Jazz actually fared well against the Warriors this season. They won a game outright in Oakland being a DD dog. Jazz team is young, but definitely talented. Oh and resurgence of "ISO-JOE"? Let's get some more of that.
Certainly the Clippers are more "likely" to win Game 7 with the momentum from Game 6 win and going back to "home" to close out the deal. I just don't see much incentive in this team moving to the next round. There is definitely better story-line to Warriors & Jazz playoff series.
I think we are going to see a great competitive game. I will take the points +3.5.
Utah Jazz+3.5
