Yesterday was crazy. No two ways about it. I would like to believe I have a good idea as to what happened with the “win all 4 quarters” angle but it’s still such a small sample. Other factors definitely contributed like the Aces and Storm lack of depth, Tina Charles news distracting Seattle and giving Phoenix focus, etc.

Get right game for the Sun before they face the defending champs again. Not expecting look ahead issues as they’ve lost two in a row for the first time. Even if the defense is solid, I still think this should go over as both teams love to run off turnovers and get easy buckets.

Not writing this one up in the same way because it’s small plays and I’d just be repeating a lot of things from the 15th when they last played. This Atlanta team will look a bit different. Coffey and Wallace combined for 26 minutes in that one and Maya Caldwell had yet to join the fold. Caldwell was huge in her debut but has come back down to earth. Don’t forget, there’s probably a reason she didn’t make the roster. Can’t over react to one emotional game though I do think she’ll get back to scoring this afternoon.
In a lot of ways, I feel like Connecticut is the team that Atlanta wants to be and I’m just not convinced you can beat teams that play your brand of basketball better than you without a lot of things going right.
With that being said, Atlanta has had to adjust their play style with so many injuries and this could throw a wrench in the mix. We shall see

Teams are a combined 0/16 from 3 and Atlanta only managed 5 points in the 2nd quarter. With a 17 point lead, I think we should see a bit more free flowing offense for the next two mins… hopefully.

Minnesota appears to be a popular dog tonight, at least in the forums. I see why. Count me in. This team is playing great ball right now and come super close to a fade spot with their shooting and victories in the last 2 games but I think the train keeps rolling for at least one more. Second game back for Fowles and she looked great last time out in 20 mins or so. Copper out for Chicago isn’t nothing.
Similar to how teams that lose back to back games against the same the same opponent have faired well in their next game, so have teams that win back to back games against the same opponent struggled. The Storm won back to back games against the Liberty and then lost by 17 points on their home floor to Dallas. The Dream beat the Fever in back to back games on the road before returning home to lose to the Mystics. The Sun beat the Fever in back to back games before losing to the Wings at home by 8. The Merc beat the Storm in back to back games before losing by 12 in LV. The Storm beat the Wings in back to back games before squeaking out a 2 or victory in Minnesota. All losses, except for one victory by 2 pts. Nobody covered.
So will Minnesota be the exception? One thing going for them is their record. I mean, how bad it is. Looking back through those instances, you see a lot of a good team beating up on a struggling team and not bringing the proper energy into the next one. The Storm especially seem to have underestimated Dallas and then Minnesota in this spot. There is really no reason for Minnesota to under estimate Chicago except for maybe the Copper injury but I don’t think it’s a big enough deal. CP3 maybe but that’s not the case tonight.

I really wanted the Sparks to take advantage of Chicago’s ability to defend the paint but they failed me. Perhaps Minnesota will do better? Just 36.8 pitp (5th) compared to Sky 40.5 (2nd) but on the defensive end MIN allows just 31.8 pitp (3rd) compared to CHI 38.5 (11th). Both teams are in the bottom 3 for points off TO but Minnesota has a strong edge in 2nd chance points. Lynx 11.9 (3rd) compared to Sky 8.7 (11th). On defense, Lynx allow 10.3 2nd chancers (5th) and Chicago allows 12.4 (12th). This game should be won in the trenches and I give Minnesota the edge in energy and focus. Back to back wins against the 10th best team when you’re still in 11th is nothing to celebrate. Get a win tonight and we’ll have something to talk about :)
The key to Minnesota’s success has been on offense. I don’t really expect them to stop Chicago tonight but rather keep pace/out score

Indeed. Lynx and the over. There are a few things I don’t like about Minnesota tonight. A bad game is coming for this team and Chicago may make me look dumb for doubting them again so soon but this also has a “it works better for me this way” angle and this certainly doesn’t present as an easy spot for Chicago. The Sun is on the Sky horizon. Sorry I couldn’t help myself.
