Griner arrested in Russia

Breaking News: Russian customs officials said they had detained a star American basketball player after finding hashish oil in her luggage at an airport near Moscow. The Russian news agency TASS has identified the player as Brittney Griner.

Scary situation for her right now. With everything that’s going on, she could miss some or all of the season. Apparently she’s already been detained for 3 weeks. No idea how this is going to play out but something that could definitely impact this season greatly 

It is not looking good at all for Griner. Been there for over a month now and now progress at all with her release. I think I saw that the Mercury signed Anigwe last week and I’m guessing that’s to help with Griner missing until this all gets sorted.

I am slightly suspicious though because Griner has been going to Russia for many years now, she knows their strong policies against drugs so why would she risk taking a marijuana vape with her? Or was it planted potentially? Who knows, we may never know but seems insane that she is locked up over something like a marijuana vape.

Griner has to worry about prison time and not her career right now.

However, Russian laws are not American laws, what's legal in the US will put you behind bars for years in Russia. Mix that with the political situation, and war leverage, she now is a political pawn, a bargaining tool for Putin...my prayers are with her..she going to need them....

Wonder if some of these morons in the WNBA are going to want to protest and not playing any games until they get this loser back!!! Hopefully she gets 10 Years.
