Christ almighty. I honestly have to assume Curt Miller wanted to lose that game. Not only did he go back to JT in the second half and watch his team’s lead disappear for the second time but he gets this stupid ass tech late. Record really takes a hit on that one. So hard to watch.
Honestly glad there are no games on Monday because I need a day to digest this loss.
Anyway, I started a write up earlier today for a game on Tuesday. Might as well get that down now and then take a break from basketball for the rest of the night.

Three straight road wins for Atlanta. First NYL then CON in OT and most recently Indiana which also came down to the wire. Dream now sit at 5-5 and are 4-1 on the road so far. Danielle Robinson is back and managed 7/2/2 on 3/5 in 14 minutes. No doubt, this team is finding its stride.
Which brings me to their next game (on Tuesday) and final of this road stretch, @ Dallas. Whereas the Dream have now won 3 in a row and are back at .500, Dallas is on a 3 game losing streak and has lost 5 of its last 7 after starting the season 3-1. Most recently, Dallas lost to the bottom feeding Storm (just another young team finding success on the road right now). Again, what we care about is the perception. Dallas should be plenty motivated coming in to this game. Even if Gray spent the first 6 season of her career in Dallas and Atlanta lost the first game this season to Dallas (with Gray playing pretty poorly), this still feels way more like a “get right” game for the Wings than a “revenge” game for the Dream.
On the subject of Gray being trade to Atlanta, I actually did a bit of a deeper dive and found some interesting things that make it a bit easier to back Dallas here. Yes she spent 6 years there and yes she was shipped out for a couple of draft picks, but all signs point to this being something she wanted. Reports say this was an ongoing conversation for at least two years between Wings president (Greg Bibb) and Gray. Going in to last season, he asked her for one more season and promised to move her if she still wanted to leave at the 2022 conclusion. Not only did Gray finish the season requesting a trade but she asked to be as close to Georgia as possible in a sort of return home. Bibb could not have delivered better in this situation by trading her to Atlanta. If anything, the ill will in this matchup comes from Wings players that she seemingly wanted to get away from. I really don’t expect anything extra from her especially since she had a career high very recently.
“Over a period of time — several seasons really — Allisha and I have had multiple conversations about her desire to try something new in a new place,” Bibb said. “Nothing in regards to the Dallas Wings organization doing something wrong. Simply her desire after being in one place her entire WNBA career to try something else.”
Similar to how Atlanta was in a downward spiral with limited playmakers and turned to Hailey Jones, Dallas recently went through a 4 game stretch without Crystal Dangerfield and Diamond Deshields has yet to play a regular season game for them. Dallas went 2-2 in that time, beating the Mercury twice at home (once only by 5) and then losing to NYL by 9 and the Sparks by 18. The good news? Crystal was back for the Seattle game so this will be her second game back. Always like that more than the first. She looked good in the last game as well with a 15/1/3 line on 6/10 shooting in 32 minutes. This team has serious depth issues. Only 6 players played more than 2 minutes in that last game against Seattle. Getting Crystal back is huge.

I am also considering the Sparks, as 3 straight losses to the Lynx is hard to imagine but I need to find an injury report first. Seen some support for LA on the forum. Just not sure I can trust this team after how they hurt me last. Still fresh
