UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Connecticut Sun All-Star guard Katie Douglas has a hairline fracture in her right foot and is doubtful for the remainder of the WNBA playoffs, the team announced Monday.
A CT scan and MRI revealed a non-displaced hairline fracture sustained in the final minute of the Sun's first-round clinching victory Sunday against Washington. Douglas, the All-Star Game MVP, averaged 16.4 points in the regular season.
"It's obviously a big loss for our team," coach Mike Thibault said. "[Douglas] has been an integral part of our success."
The injury occurred as Douglas was driving for a layup against Washington's Alana Beard.
It's the second consecutive year the Sun's playoff run has been marred by injury. Last year, guard Lindsay Whalen was hobbled by a knee injury in the Eastern Conference finals and an ankle injury in the first game of the finals.
The Sun are in the conference finals for the fourth consecutive year. Game 1 is Thursday at Detroit.
