Phoenix still sucks and I really don’t see some magnificent rally coming just because Griner is out. She was out all season and this team sucked. Not to mention, Washington can’t afford to relax right now. They looked good opening night and honestly haven’t really impressed since. 5-4 is not where this team wants/expected to be. Losing by 20+ to Indiana was not in their plans. This month only gets more difficult for them after tonight. Double date with Chicago followed by a trip to NYL and then a double date with Atlanta. I know teams sometimes overlook other teams when they lose a star and Washington could still do this but I’m betting against it with the recent 20 point loss. If they can’t crush Phoenix in this spot, they’re probably not doing much this season at all. Covering this spread honestly doesn’t prove anything, but not doing it would be absolutely pathetic. The Storm team they just beat twice (once without EDD) also just beat this Phoenix team in Phoenix by 14.
I’d like to see news about Cloud before betting as this line would likely come down a bit. I’m not expecting her to play and like it even more with her out (similar to how Washington played better in their first game against Seattle when EDD was out).
