Contest Play: SPARKS-11

The Wings 2nd in the league at scoring 86.8 ppg but 2nd lowest fg% at 40.9%? What kind of crazy pace are these girls running...I think they run themselves right out of the gym against this Sparks defense.

The Wings lead the league at 3pt fg's made per game at 7.6 pg VS the Sparks #1 arc defense allowing 3.8 pg and at the lowest percentage of 25.1%. Gimme the D over the O every time.

Over their last 10 games the Sparks +- pt diff is 11.30 VS the Wings -3.00, then figure in a lil homecourt if you like.

Before the Wings lost to the Fever in their last game they won 4 in a row. I think that's still a bit fresh in people's minds. But vs who? Stars, Mercury twice(who were in shambles, in the Lesbian ex girlfriend revenge games) and the Storm. But I remember them losing 6 straight before that, including a loss to the Sparks by 24.

The Wings are 13-2 to the OVER...really? Sounds to me like they are trying to pull off their best impersonation of the Golden State Warriors(minus the defense) in their new city. 

The Wings allow 47.6% shooting from the field, and 88.2 ppg.

So basically we have the Best defense(Sparks) vs almost the worst defense(Wings) And the 2nd worst shooting %(Wings) vs the Best Shooting %(Sparks)

Get the hell outta dodge, lay the 11 boys n girls

Over 166.5 Wings/Sparks

The Wings play absolutely no defense, its Fred Williams system that was ran by the Dream when he was an assistant and later head coach. The Wings play at the 3rd highest pace in the league and get roughly 25% of their points from the line and they foul a lot. Wings opponents have the highest ratio of free throws to field goal attempts. a team that tries to push tempo at every chance, and  fouls a lot. Wings opponents shoot the most free throws in the league, the sparks get to the line the 3rd fewest in the league.
The Wings are actually 4th in 3pt def, sparks best 3 pt shooting team in the league. Wings are 6th in 3pt shooting, Sparks are 1st at defending the arc. My x factor is how is the game going to be officiated, fouls lead to free throws, wings games average 53.9 fta per game the sparks 38.7.

I have to disagree here. The last time LA played this team Diggins and Johnson played their 2nd game of the season after returning from injury and suspension. Ogwumike went perfect from the field and FT line when they won by 24.  The one X factor is Parker, b/c she took an elbow from Johnson and knocked her out of the last game.  

On the flip side the news of Pat Summit passing could be extra motivation for Candace tonight or too much to handle.  She really didn't play very well the last couple of games.  Fatigue and the emotional strain of Pat Summitt's health might have weighed on her mind.

I just think DAL can compete with LA especially after getting embarrassed at home.  The star players for DAL now have their legs under them. DAL ranked 4th in the league in rebounding and LA ranked 11th. The biggest difference in this game will be the bench play.

10-13 Contest

Contest Play DAL-LAS 170.5 under

A bit too many points here.Some great analysis so far but as SACS said give me defense over offense any day. LAS have given up no more than 77 points (except to CHI). They are at home. They play a slower pace and will guard the three point line. look at the last game. Ogwimke goes 12-12 they shoot 58.5 % and the total still does not go over this 170.5! Why do we think it will tonite? I don't  brutaljoe

Good points, all considered especially rebounding But the Pat Summit passing could be motivation or it could be weighing heavy on Candace Parker's mind. Tough to say how she responds, girls are a lot more emotional than men.

And if it's bench play that makes the difference, jmoo above mentioned the Wings foul at the highest rate in the league. We should see their bench players on the floor early up against the Sparks 1's. We'll see.
