WNBA is introducing a 40 game season this year, which is the most in league history
I have this year’s teams broken down into 4 tiers:
Elite
Libs, Aces
Playoff fodder
Mystics, Sun, Mercury
Fringe playoffs teams
Lynx, Sky, Dream, Sparks
Playoff longshots
Wings, Fever, Storm
Fanduel has “to make playoffs” market, but for some reason they don’t include the Aces, Liberty, Mystics or Wings. Which is too bad because I’d love to bet “no” on the Wings at +$. Another team with value in that market I think is the Sparks at +360. I don’t have them in my projected playoff field, but I also don’t think there’s a whole lot separating the teams in my “fringe playoff” tier. At +360 that gives us 21.74% implied chance, but in reality I give them closer to 1/3 chance to sneak in. I’m tempted to take Wings RSW under but I normally don’t bet those since I don’t like my money tied up for that long if I’m not getting + odds. A team I feel is undervalued is the Sun. Unfortunately I don’t think anyone has a chance to beat NY/LV so I probably won’t get involved with them before the season starts, but they could be a nice team to back early in the year.

Agree with Libs and Aces being dominate this season and it’s great it’s 40 games as well. Straight off the bat though, I do like the over 15.5 for LA.
Fever will be complete garbage along with Seattle. I like Phoenix to be rejuvenated this season with Griner back and that surely makes Taurasi happy as well.

Looking at these preseason markets gets me pumped for the season lol. I’m really happy they extended to 40 games too. Maybe I was a bit harsh on the Wings by calling them a playoff longshot but I feel they’re in for a rough year. I think I’ve seen that you don’t believe Ogunbowale is a winning player and I totally agree. She takes way too many tough shots, and really kills the rhythm of the offense far too often. Obviously very talented and she can hit those tough shots, but now with Gray and Mabrey out of Dallas, it’s going to be the Arike show every night and I don’t think it’s going to go well for them.
