New coach finally. Agler couldn’t adjust to the roster he had. Didn’t use players correctly IMHO and trusted Arike far too much. Hopefully Johnson can change that mentality. They now have a solid foundation and have some decent rookies.
Roster:
Arike Ogunbowale Tyasha Harris Alissha Gray Kayla Thornton Marina Mabrey Moriah Jefferson Isabelle Harrison Satou Sabally Bella Alarie Charlie Collier (rookie) Chelsea Dungee (rookie) Dana Evans (rookie) Awak Kuier (rookie)
Think they still need to make one more cut today. Sabally will miss the start of the season and also saw that potentially Arike as well but need to confirm that. This team has potential but just lack that experience and guidance needed. New coach will be hard to adjust but you just never know. Spoken many times how I don’t like Arike taking almost 25-30% of the shots per game because her accuracy isn’t the best. If this team wants to do something this season they need to spread the ball. They open tomorrow night against the Sparks in LA so let’s see what happens.
Prediction: 5-8th
I do think the can make the playoffs in the elimination rounds

By my math, you used up all the 5-8 slots. You have 2 slots open for 9-12 and I assume one of those will be the Fever.
So, for these remaining teams, you have 3 in top 4 and one in the bottom 4
Storm
Lynx
Mystics
Sparks
I am interested in seeing which of these teams is in the bottom 4. I'm hoping it is the Sparks and not my Lynx or Mystics. Storm has to be #1
Also, I wouldn't look into the Dream coach going to Baylor too much. She is probably going to make 5 times the salary, and if she wins even more. WNBA coaches salaries are not released, but it can't be much more than 150K per year. She is probably making 750K at Baylor, but I don't think that is released either because it is private school

So the Mystics earlier traded away a draft pick to the Sparks for Sydney Wiese in return. Odd trade if you ask me. So EDD and Charles are back this season and they will be a force hard to stop once they gel. Cloud also back after missing the bubble and Thibault has built a nice team this season. Unsure of Meessman will return after the Olympics break.
They did sign Alysha Clark from Seattle but she hurt herself in France and is out for the season. Their roster is
EDD Tina Charles Shavonte Zellous Leilani Mitchell Ariel Atkins Myisha Hines-Allen Teresa Plaisance Sydney Wiese Kiara Leslie Stella Johnson Jillian Alleyne Natasha Cloud Erica McCall
They have played Hines-Allen one temp suspension whilst she makes it home from Europe. They still need to drop one player as they are carrying 13. Either way, this team is stacked and I have them being in my top 2 if EDD stays healthy. I like Charles she she isn’t a ball hog, not a selfish player at all and I think she will know her role in this team. Since the new playoff system, teams that have won the league have finished top 2 so that’s what their aim would be. Expect EDD back after maybe 3 games and then the rest are already there.

Candace gone, a lot of people saying it’s a good thing but I don’t believe it is. Augustus retired now, assistant coach with Fisher. This Sparks team is a bit odd and bench will be an issue. Starting 5 will look decent but I hate to say it but Fisher is a nut case and I dont see where they can get through the long season when you get niggling injuries.
Roster
Kristi Toliver Nneka Ogwumike Chiney Ogwumike Brittney Sykes Arella Guirantes Te’a Cooper Amanda Zahui B Maria Vadeeva Jasmine Walker Nia Coffey Bria Holmes Erica Wheeler
On paper the roster looks ok but coaching is the issue along with sustainability as I don’t think they have the bench to help out when injured occur. Toliver missed last season and didn’t play in preseason game vs Aces. Will she even be game fit on the opening 1-2 weeks? She is hot and cold as well at the best of times and yes she won the chip with Mystics and played well but had a nice supporting cast. Here she doesn’t have that. She has Nneka who is great and Chiney off the bench but she also missed last season. They open their season with Wings, @Aces, @Sky, @Sky and then @Wings. Tough four game roadie in there playing the Sky twice. Awful start IMHO. Lost a lot this off-season and didn’t bring much in. Zahui B is ok but 50/50 at the best of times. The one signing I do like is Erica Wheeler as she always plays hard. Bria Holmes a nice addition but will she see many mins? Not sure.
Prediction: 9-12. Maybe, just maybe the can squeeze into 8th but no higher

Great signings this off-season with McBride and Powers. We all know that Lynx’s main advantage is Reeve. She did so well with the roster she had last season in the bubble and that was including Fowles being out most of the bubble. This team looks great. Stacked with outside shooters, great guards and great bigs. With Fowles, it doesn’t matter that she is getting older, she competes hard every game. Just hope she stays fit. A lot of people are saying that they should not have signed Anchonwa from Indy but I disagree. I think she shines under a good coach. How many times do you see in sport a player that has several bad seasons due to being on a painful team with painful coaching? She will be directed on the right path under Reeve. Also great to see Shepherd back from her knee injury. She was great in her rookie year on 2019.
That is what I like to call a good roster. Well balanced in all positions with rookies or players with less than 2 years experience mixed in with vets like Fowles and McBride. We can’t forget how good Dangerfield was last season either. PER of 17.2 in her first season which is amazing. Dantas also a good player that goes under the radar and same with Carleton. Reeve, you have done well.
Prediction: 3rd or 4th

Agree 100 % on the Sparks write-up. Fisher is a terrible WNBA coach and the front office is a mess. I am probably going to bet them no playoffs +270.
I may take Dream make playoffs +160
The only two teams I really disagree with you are the Sun and Wings. I've liked the Sun for a few years because I think they play good team basketball and Thomas is my favorite player (along with A Clark - both injured ) so maybe I am a bit of a homer
Storm
Mystics
Lynx
Aces
Sky (this one is close)
Sun
Mercury
Dream
Sparks
Liberty
Wings
Fever

I can't believe I got +2500 on the Lynx, too bad the the max bet limit was so low. I think I bet them 6 times for 20 bucks each... Lynx are the model franchise in the WNBA.

Perfect way to put it.. “Lynx are the model franchise”. They sure are Thorpe. They have the depth this season and they literally just finalised their roster by bringing in Linnae Harper just now.

This team is just going to go through the motions once again. Since Tamika retire it truly has fallen apart. There isn’t much to say about them this year. They lost Dupree to Seattle, Achonwa to Lynx and Wheeler to Sparks. They didn’t recruit well at all, only brought in Danielle Robinson, Breland and Lavender. They appear to be taking in four rookies this season which we all saw how well that worked out for Liberty who took on 6-7 last season. New coach, new players but same story
Roster (need to make one more cut)
Jantel Lavender Kysre Gondrezick (rookie) Lindsay Allen Victoria Vivians Kelsey Mitchell Chelsea Perry (rookie) Lauren Cox Aaliyah Wilson (rookie) Teaira McCowan Tiffany Mitchell Bernadett Hatar (rookie) Danielle Robinson Jessica Breland
Not going to write much more to be honest...

Lost Howard and Whitcomb so what do you do? You bring in a vet like Candice Dupree and put trust into one of the hottest properties in ladies basketball into the mix as a starter. Ezi Magbegor. She is an Aussie and creating all kinds of hype (which she deserves) and she will only get better and better. Can you imagine having some players like Stewie, Bird and Dupree around you to help steer you in the right path? That must give Ezi so much confidence being on this team with a coach that trusts her as well.
Going to be very hard to stop them going back to back this year. Mystics and Lynx definitely have the talent and coaching to do so. But how do you stop Stewie?
Roster;
Breanna Stewart Candice Dupree Jewel Loyd Sue Bird Jordin Canada Epiphanny Prince Katie Lou Samuelson Mercedes Russell Ezi Magbegor Stephanie Talbot Kennedy Burke Kiana Williams (rookie) Mikiah Herbert-Harrigan
They will be missing Prince, Samuelson, Herbert-Harrigan and Russell for their opening game and maybe a few more but this roster is amazing. Great additions as well to their bench with Herbert-Harrigan from Minny, Burke from Indy and Samuelson from Wings. Seems they have just done the same thing as the Lynx has and have a very well balanced roster with the right mix.

Waiting to see where the lines move on future bets once they lock in all their roster spots but like Thorpe has said, great value on Minny at $9.50/1 With my book, Mystics at $5.75/1 and even Seattle at $3.66/1
Wouldnt put my money anywhere else right now. Sky has come in to $9.50/1 now as well which seems about right.

As Aussie has mentioned, opening night and even opening week is not the best time to bet the WNBA. There is a very short preseason (basically 1 game), and a lot of the best players are still overseas. Rosters are finalized today. It takes them at least a week or 2 for the teams to find a good rhythm/chemistry IMO and get their rotations set. The first week or so is usually very sloppy...

Just saw the "fresh" odds on my odds page and couldn't help but notice the WNBA odds. When I saw this, I thought of AussieDownUnderand brutaljoewho are the PREMIER(British pronunciation, even though I'm an American )
cappers on covers for this sport. I'm lookin forward to this season with you two and everybody else's input..
Until then, I usually "let the dust settle" for the first couple of games...
BOL on the plays..
"Schrödinger's bet." A bet that loses when you bet it but wins when you DON'T bet it...
