If you're looking for a longshot to upset the apple cart in the RBC Canadian Open, you could do a whole lot worse than Justin Rose at +8000, as our golf betting picks explain.

Scottie Scheffler isn’t heading north of the border this week, which means the RBC Canadian Open field is secretly jumping for joy at the idea that someone other than Sheffler can win a tournament.

It also means the RBC Canadian Open odds are wide open. At least, behind favorite and two-time champion Rory McIlroy. However, I’m looking a little farther down the board when it comes to finding a winner this week.

Check out my golf picks for this event, which makes its debut at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.

Golf picks for the RBC Canadian Open 2025

RBC Canadian Open outright picks

Outright pick: Shane Lowry
+2200 at FanDuel

The North Course at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley plays as a 7,389-yard par-70. It is said to have relatively narrow fairways and long rough. So, driving accuracy and strong iron play are a must.

Strong iron play? No wonder I’m looking at Shane Lowry to win outright. Lowry enters the week ranked fifth in total strokes gained this season. He’s also third in strokes gained approach and 25th in driving accuracy.

He’s also in good form, finishing T23 or better in four of his last five starts. The Irishman has come close to getting a win several times in 2025, with four Top 10 finishes, and I like his odds to get the job done in Canada.

Outright pick: Justin Rose
+8000 at bet365

The hangover Rose has suffered since losing to Rory McIlroy in a playoff at The Masters has been a brutal one. A T42, a withdraw, a missed cut at the PGA Championship, and a T44 at the Memorial last week.

But there are signs we could see some good golf from Rose again this weekend. He shot an impressive 66 on Friday at the Memorial before a disastrous 80 on Saturday. But he didn't let that keep him down and he bounced back with a 72 on Sunday.

And while the stats won’t say it this season, we know Rose is a world-class ball striker when he’s locked in. With so many questions around this field, I think Rose is worth a shot at this price.

RBC Canadian Open prop picks

Finishing position pick: Corey Conners Top 10
+185 at DraftKings

When can’t have an RBC Canadian Open betting preview without giving some love to a Canuck. For that we go to Corey Conners. While Taylor Pendrith might have the most experience on this course, it feels like the North Course was built for Conners.

Conners has been one of the best iron players in the game for a while now, and with the tight fairways at TPC Toronto should be able to show that. He’s also been deadly with the driver this year too, ranking ninth in strokes gained off the tee.

Conners is also in great form, T25 or better in nine of his last 10 starts, including four Top 10s. If he gets the putter going this week, we could have the second Canadian win this event in three years. He should be in contention come Sunday.

Finishing position pick: Sam Burns Top 10
+250 at DraftKings

Sam Burns doesn’t exactly fit the profile for the golfer I’m targeting this week, but he’s another guy who feels like his first win of 2025 is just around the corner. The 28-year-old has turned his season around following a rough patch in March and April.

He’s finished T19 or better in four of his last five starts, including a T5 at the Byron Nelson and a T12 at the Memorial last week. Burns is one of the best putters in the world, and his ball striking is starting to catch up, as evidenced by his recent form.

I’m betting Burns is in contention once again come Sunday.

RBC Canadian Open first-round pick

Prop pick: Taylor Pendrith Over 4.5 Birdies or Better - Round 1
-115 at DraftKings

Not many in the field this week have played a competitive round on the North Course at TPC Toronto. But local native Taylor Pendrith has probably played more overall rounds here than anyone else.

Not to mention, he also has the game to succeed on this course. He’s fourth on tour in strokes gained off the tee and 31st in strokes gained approach.

Pendrith also comes into the week playing well, following up a T5 at the PGA Championship with a T12 at the Memorial last week.

To me, that all adds up to a good start. Pendrith already ranks 58th in birdies or better average, and his knowledge of the course should give him an edge here. He does just that and gets a handful of birdies on Day 1.

RBC Canadian Open odds

  • Rory McIlroy (+450)
  • Ludvig Aberg (+1400)
  • Corey Conners (+2000)
  • Shane Lowry (+2200)
  • Sam Burns (+2800)
