The PGA Tour will crown a season-long champion this week as it returns to East Lake Golf Club for the conclusion of the FedEx Cup.

With starting strokes finalized, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will deservedly kick off this week's action with a two-shot lead over Xander Schauffele and the TOUR Championship odds aren't being shy to reflect that advantage.

Despite all of Scottie Scheffler's accomplishments, a TOUR Championship victory and subsequent FedEx Cup have eluded him. This will be his third straight year starting with a two-shot advantage and the fact he hasn't sealed the deal yet is at least worth noting.

His T33 finish at Castle Pines last week is by far his worst result since the U.S. Open in June and he also appeared to tweak his back in Thursday's opening round. The circumstances are far from optimal but the golf odds are still placing him in the -110 to +110 range given the scoreboard advantage.

He'll have a hungry Xander Schauffle (+225 to +250) chasing him down this time around. He's No. 2 in the season-long standings and will start two shots back at -8.

Xander's maintained this career-best form following two major championship wins (T2, T5 in first two playoff events) and is a course horse here at East Lake. He won the 2017 edition (no starting strokes) and has finished T5 or better in each of the last five since the new format was introduced in a run that includes three runner-up finishes.

Hideki Matsuyama is both third in the odds (+1,000) and third in the standings after winning at TPC Southwind, starting this week three shots back at -7. Keegan Bradley has moved up to No. 4 in the standings and will start at 6-under but is still behind Ludvig Aberg (-5), Rory McIlroy (-4), and Collin Morikawa (-4) on the odds board.

It's also worth noting that since the new format was introduced in 2019, only two of the five winners came from the No. 1 starting position at 10-under (Patrick Cantlay in 2021, Dustin Johnson in 2020).
