Even if he doesn't hold on to win the U.S. Open, Matthew Wolff deserves some sort of trophy for what he did Saturday on one of the most challenging golf courses in the world.

Wolff defied the odds with a 5-under 65 in truly unyielding conditions at Winged Foot to seize a two-shot lead after 54 holes, his first major championship in his sights. Wolff carded six birdies and only one bogey despite punishing pin placements.

With the final round set to tee off, we give our PGA picks, predictions and best bets for the U.S. Open Round 4 odds.

US Open Round 4 picks and predictions

Bryson DeChambeau Outright (+225)

Wolff has a slim edge in oddsmakers' eyes, but DeChambeau has our vote to win the tournament. The booming hitter hasn't made anything worse than a bogey through his first 54 holes, and managed challenging conditions Saturday to remain in the hunt. He ranks second in SG: Off the Tee, 11th in SG: Approach, fourth in SG: Around the Green and 16th in SG: Putting, and if he can duplicate those well-rounded results Sunday, he'll almost certainly walk away with the title.

Top Rest of World: Hideki Matsuyama (+105)

This is going to be one of the more interesting props to monitor Sunday, with Matsuyama the second favorite for Rest of World honors behind Oosthuizen. The South African has the inside track among oddsmakers after shooting an impressive 68 Saturday, but that second-round 74 – in which he went bogey-bogey-double bogey on Holes 16-18 – looms large. Matsuyama has been the steadier of the two players (putting aside) and is worth a look at a slightly better payout.

Round 4: Patrick Reed Over Thomas Pieters (-125)

Saturday afternoon featured a stunning collapse from Reed, who was 5 under after a birdie on the ninth hole, but proceeded to give eight shots back over his final nine holes to slip into a tie for 11th and effectively take him out of title consideration. But we're big Reed fans, and are expecting a major bounce-back from a guy who went into the weekend with scores of 66-70. Pieters had a nice opening round but has gone 74-73 in two round since. We don't like his chances of rebounding in brutal Sunday conditions.

Players Under Par: 2-3 Inclusive (+150)

Three men will go into the final 18 holes under par – but we don't see that holding up. As we've been saying throughout the tournament, Winged Foot is one of the stiffest tests out there. This is shaping up to be an intriguing duel between Wolff and DeChambeau, both of whom have played excellent golf and should be able to remain under par for the tournament if they can limit their mistakes. We don't see anyone else joining them on the red side of the ledger – but this prop leaves room for one more.
