Gulfstream Park Free Picks
Race #1, $12,500 Maiden Claiming, Post: 1:00 p.m. ET
Pick: No. 9 Bella Gianna (8/1)
Returns to racing on the turf where I would argue her best efforts have been, and she also gets to stretch out in distance to try her luck routing and take another drop in class. This filly has raced well when put into play early and he has been very close to breaking her maiden especially in the turf sprint.
In a wide open field take a shot on this filly who could be making some crucial changes to help land her in the winners circle.
Race #2, $25,000 Maiden Claiming, Post: 1:34 p.m. ET
Pick: No. 3 Three Deep (2/1)
Willing to overlook last start as this gelding chased the early speed and never had an opportunity to settle in last time out. If you take that race out of the equation and examine the rest of his starts on the turf, he is definitely the one to beat in here.
In a race with not a lot of speed, I would not be surprised to see this gelding put into play and the one dictating the tempo on the front end. If not, a stalking trip could also help him find the winners circle for the first time in his career.
Race #7, $25,000 Optional Claiming, Post: 4:15 p.m. ET
Pick: No. 8 Life in Shambles (8/1)
There is quite a bit of early speed in here and horses that will likely be vying for the front end. This could prove really beneficial to a gelding like this who is at his best working out a trip scenario from off the pace, although he does have racing versatility regardless of the break.
He also gets the luxury of returning to a shorter distance of five furlongs and getting to race over the turf. While his best efforts have been on the dirt, getting to make a second start for new connections, the change of surface, and the addition of blinkers today could help spark a big effort.
Race #9, $50,000 Optional Claiming, Post: 5:17 p.m. ET
Pick: No. 2 Frosted Grace (7/5)
It was not too long ago that this colt was racing within the stakes ranks. Today he gets to take another drop in class and try his luck versus some optional claimers. Expect this gelding to be put into play early and hopefully be the one controlling the tempo on the front end.
Although this is a small field and the price will be short, he does appear at least on paper like a standout and a worthy single in your exotic wagers
Race #10, $35,000 Optional Claiming, Post: 5:47 p.m. ET
Pick: No. 11 Front Loaded (4/1)
Takes another drop in class to compete against easier in here after disappointing as a short price last time out over a sloppy track. Unfortunately this gelding has been left with too much work to do late and has been forced into wide stretch rallys which have fallen just short.
Hoping that he is able to be a little bit closer drawing an outside post and getting to compete against easier today. If he is set up well, he could surprise a few here pulling off the minor upset.
