Another NFL player has been suspended for at least a year for using sports betting sites to wager on the league’s games.

The National Football League announced Monday that Denver Broncos defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike was suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games during the 2022 season.

Uwazurike, who recorded 17 total tackles and no sacks in his first year in the league out of Iowa State, can seek reinstatement no earlier than July 24, 2024, the NFL said.

More and more

The latest suspension means there have now been at least 10 NFL players suspended this year for violating the league's policy for legal sports betting and gambling in general.

That policy contains several key rules, including a ban on betting on NFL games and gambling while at work.

“The gambling policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, including players, prohibits anyone in the NFL from engaging in any form of gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the practice facility,” the league noted in June.
