A major professional sports league is bringing its brand to the online casino gaming market.

BetMGM, which is the third-largest sportsbook in America in terms of market share at 17%, has partnered with the NHL to launch NHL Gold Blitz — the league’s first endorsed online slot game. Now one of BetMGM’s more than 1,500 online casino games, NHL Gold Blitz will include logos from all 32 NHL teams and the league’s shield, along with 4,096 ways for gamblers to win.

“The iconic NHL brand combined with the great action of the game make this a real winner. We are proud to offer this and many more unique games exclusively at BetMGM.”

- Oliver Bartlett, BetMGM VP of Gaming Product and Content

NHL Gold Blitz is the product of BetMGM’s partnership with Digital Gaming Corporation, which includes business-to-business iGaming. The new slot game builds on previous NHL branding throughout BetMGM casino games, including roulette and blackjack.

The online slot game is currently available in New Jersey, with plans to bring the game to areas where BetMGM operates iGaming. Those jurisdictions include Ontario, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

The NHL is making efforts to solidify its presence in the sports betting and iGaming markets.

Last week, PENN Entertainment agreed to a partnership with the NHL to make the league an official sports betting partner of the gaming giant. The pact includes PENN’s sports betting operations in Canada through theScore Bet and its recently launched ESPN BET sportsbook.

The partnership provides theScore Bet and ESPN BET with access to PENN’s media and marketing integrations across NHL programming. As part of the deal, the two operators have also secured the NHL’s intellectual property rights.

The pact, which began last month, spans across all of the NHL’s events, including the NHL All-Star Game and Stanley Cup playoffs.
