BetMGM is expanding into a new state for the legal sports betting operator.

The company announced Wednesday that BetMGM is entering New Mexico, its 28th market, with a new retail sportsbook at Isleta Resort & Casino in Albuquerque.

“It's a privilege to enter New Mexico and collaborate with Isleta Resort & Casino,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said. “We're confident sports fans will enjoy the world-class gameday experience that only BetMGM provides.”

BetMGM takes over a 4,900-square-foot sportsbook that offers five betting windows, five kiosks, and 35 televisions, along with two VIP sections.

“Isleta Resort & Casino's goal is to constantly improve the consumer experience,” Karl Waitner, Chief Executive Officer of Isleta Resort & Casino, said. “Our new partnership with BetMGM makes unforgettable moments in sports even more personal, powerful, and fun.”

Tribal betting only

Wagering in New Mexico can only be done at retail sportsbooks inside tribal casinos. Online sports betting is not legal in the Land of Enchantment.

BetMGM attaches its name to one of New Mexico’s largest sportsbooks, which is owned and run by the Pueblo of Isleta.

Tribes in New Mexico have tribal compacts with the state to operate casinos and sportsbooks. BetMGM will not be offering a mobile app in New Mexico.

All over the country

Isleta’s sportsbook will be the 29th brick-and-mortar shop to carry the BetMGM brand.

The renowned sports betting company operates retail locations in nearly a dozen states or jurisdictions, including Nevada, Ohio, Arizona, and Massachusetts.

Just last week, BetMGM announced an extension as the “official sports betting partner” of the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA.

BetMGM is also licensed to operate mobile wagering in 21 states, so if New Mexico does legalize online sports betting at some point, BetMGM is in a great position to be one of the first operators in the state.
