BetMGM Sportsbook announced it's expanding its Second Chance promotion, which currently only covers the NFL to also include the NBA and NHL. The offer lets bettors get their wager back as cash if they meet particular conditions on scorer bets.

Casey Hurbis, Chief Marketing Officer at BetMGM, commented:

“The debut of Second Chance for football season was a huge success, so it’s a natural fit to extend the offer to our premier hockey and basketball products. Second Chance is just one more example of how BetMGM continues to deliver an elevated sports betting experience for our customers.”

The sportsbook introduced the promo for the NFL season, giving bettors the chance to earn their bets back as cash if they wagered on a first touchdown scorer market and their prediction scored the second touchdown. Since the offer was introduced, first TD betting increased by 110% year over year.

The NHL offer starts today and will be available every Wednesday in the regular season, letting bettors wager on the game's first goal scorer. Eligible bets must be straight bets, so they're not included in a parlay or another type of multi-leg wager.

Meanwhile, the NBA promo is available each Friday during the NBA regular season, allowing users to place straight bets on a player to score the first field goal. Bettors will get that bet back as cash if their chosen player scores the second field goal.

BetMGM Keeping Momentum from Strong 2024

This promo starts the new year right for many users, but BetMGM continues with strides the company made in more than one area last year. The sportsbook broke several records, with Super Bowl LVIII being the most-bet NFL game in company history and the most-bet event of the year.

The NFL dominated 2024 for BetMGM, with all its top 10 events with the most tickets and nine of the biggest 10 events with the most handles being NFL games. The College Football Playoff Championship between the Washington Huskies and Michigan Wolverines was the lone exception.

Don Forbes, BetMGM's Senior Director of Sports Trading, reflected, “The NFL is still king, but star athletes like Jake Paul and Caitlin Clark captured the attention of fans and bettors in 2024."

The records confirmed what Forbes said, with Indiana Fever’s matchup against the Dallas Wings on July 17 attracting the most bets on a WNBA game in BetMGM records. Clark scored 24 points with 19 assists for the Fever, but the team lost 101-93. The whole WNBA season was also the most-bet in the sportsbook's history.

Meanwhile, Jake Paul's fight against Mike Tyson was the most-bet combat sport ever, despite some US states banning wagering on the event. Some states prevented betting on this contest over the fight's validity as it didn’t include professional boxers, and some of the rules around glove weight and other areas were different from those of professional matches.
