UFC star Conor McGregor is dabbling on some Euro 2024 action as the world awaits his return to the Octagon.
McGregor showed who he would be rooting for in the UEFA European Championship when he placed a $60,000 wager on Portugal’s famed forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, to win the Golden Boot. The Golden Boot is awarded to the player with the most goals during the Euro tournament.

The bet – originally at 11-1 odds, but boosted to 14-1 at Duelbits – would win McGregor a $900,000 payout if he’s right. However, Ronaldo is 39 years old, and while he won the Golden Boot in the last tournament, no one has won the award twice in a row. On top of that, Ronaldo failed to score in Portugal’s opening win against the Czech Republic.
McGregor and Ronaldo - two of the world's most famous and highest-paid athletes - were seen chopping it up at a boxing event in December.

Ronaldo seeing plenty of bets
McGregor isn’t the only one putting big money on Ronaldo this tournament. Caesars announced that one bettor put down $50,000 on him to win the Golden Boot as well. And despite the lack of a goal on Tuesday’s opener, Ronaldo still sits in the shortlist, odds-wise, to repeat as the winner.
His odds, depending on the book, are usually between +800 and +1,000, and there is a reason for that. In his one game to this point in the tournament, Ronaldo put three shots on goal, which is the second-highest amount in the tournament entering Thursday’s action.
Another reason is in Group F, which also has Turkey and Georgia, there is optimism that Portugal won’t face a tough matchup until the next round. Portugal has the fourth-shortest odds to win it all at +600.
