A DraftKings bettor turned a futures parlay into a lucrative present on Wednesday night.
With the Los Angeles Dodgers clinching the World Series, “Carlin” cashed in for $202,000 on a six-leg parlay he placed in March.
“Long time to win this bet but it happened,” Carlin said. “Couldn’t be happier.”

After winning, the DraftKings bettor said that he planned to take his family to Disney World. He placed the wager using a $56 bonus bet and hit on all champion-winning legs. He had previously hit on UConn to win the NCAA men’s basketball title, South Carolina to claim the women’s championship, Scottie Scheffler to win the Masters, the Edmonton Oilers to win the NHL’s Western Conference Finals, and the Boston Celtics to take home the NBA championship.
No-sweat legs
The first five legs were complete by June, but the bettor chose to wait out a parlay with odds of +361,868 instead of cashing out early.

The first part of the long-term wager wasn’t much of a sweat.
The Huskies and Gamecocks were favorites to cut down the nets in April and did so with little resistance. Scheffler claimed his second Green Jacket a week later with a four-stroke victory at Augusta National.
The Oilers won the West in six games over the Dallas Stars. Luckily, the bettor didn’t have Edmonton winning it all as the Florida Panthers beat them in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final. The Celtics only lost three total games during their NBA playoff run and needed just five contests to dispatch the Dallas Mavericks in the Finals.
Dodgers prevail
The Dodgers were the interesting leg because the MLB season had not started when the parlay bet was placed. L.A. was one of the top teams on the odds to win the World Series list all year, but the team navigated injuries and trades to win the NL West. They needed all five NLDS games to get past the San Diego Padres and then six games to beat out the New York Mets in the NLCS.
The Dodgers entered the best-of-seven World Series against the New York Yankees as a -125 favorite to win it.
The bettor didn’t worry long because the Dodgers went up 3-0 in the series. New York avoided a sweep with an 11-4 win in Game 4, but L.A. rallied from a five-run deficit in Game 5 to win 7-6 and put a six-figure payout in the DraftKings bettor’s account.
