DraftKings launched Electric Poker, a popular real-money Sit and Go game, in Michigan on Wednesday.
The online sportsbook and iGaming giant is the first gaming operator to offer three-handed poker games in the Wolverine State. Electric Poker can be found in the casino lobby of the DraftKings Michigan app and site.
DraftKings has yet to formally announce the new offering or add any plans for expansion to other states.
Lottery-style prizes
Unlike iGaming table games against the house, Electric Poker pits three players against each other in a winner-take-all, fast-paced tournament. There are four buy-in levels: $1, $5, $10, and $25. Prizes are awarded in a random lottery style, with 2X and 3X multipliers being the most common rewards, but the prizes can go up to 10,000X.
DraftKings lists Electric Poker’s probabilities, rules, and rake information on its website.
Down the road
Online poker has been legal in Michigan since Dec. 2019. DraftKings joins PokerStars, BetMGM Poker, and WSOP among legal poker sites in the Wolverine State.
This slow foray into P2P poker games could be just the start for DraftKings, with Michigan being a possible test site to see how the platform and brand perform.
Other potential online poker markets include New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Michigan is also a part of the Multi-State Internet Agreement, which includes Delaware, West Virginia, Nevada, and New Jersey. This online poker compact allows operators to set up tournaments mixed with players in different states, which boosts player pools and payouts, something that could greatly interest DraftKings down the road.
