Empire State sportsbooks are hot in May.
The New York Gaming Commission reported gross revenue of $50.3 million and an 11.3% hold from the nine online sports betting operators for the week ending May 19.
Following the previous week’s all-time mark of $70.9 million, the $121.2 million combined is the best two-week run since mobile sports betting went live in January 2022.
The week ending May 19 marked the third time in the last five weeks that revenue has reached at least $50 million.
Helping hand
Compared to the previous week, revenue fell 29% while the handle dropped 16% to $445.9 million.
Still, New York sports betting has generated at least $400 million in the amount wagered for 15 consecutive weeks and 31 of the last 32 periods.
Having the New York Knicks and Rangers in the NBA and NHL playoffs and the Yankees earning one of the best records in MLB, have certainly helped bring on the action. It’s unclear when the summer slowdown will hit the Empire State.
Second to first
FanDuel is back on top in New York as the online sportsbook generated $180 million in handle and $27.2 million in revenue to lead all operators in the week ending May 19.
Coming off a record week and back-to-back $200 million handles, DraftKings took a small step back, producing $167.6 million in wagers and $15 million in profits.
Caesars finished third in the Empire State with a handle of $38.6 million, while BetMGM generated $27.3 million in wagers.
Fanatics Sportsbook ($17.3 million) and BetRivers ($10.3 million) were the only other operators to reach $10 million in handle for the week.
No sportsbooks reported red revenue figures while only four produced more profit than the previous week.
