Gaming entertainment at two of the most iconic properties on the Las Vegas Strip will now be more accessible without having to travel to Sin City. Playtech and MGM Resorts announced on Thursday a strategic partnership to broadcast single and double-zero roulette and baccarat games directly from MGM Grand and Bellagio Resort and Casino.
The live casino content, branded as “MGM Live,” will be available for licensing in regulated markets worldwide, outside of the United States.
“We believe the content, celebrity talent and sophisticated gaming experience that we will offer - all from the trusted and highly reputable brands of MGM Resorts - will be unmatched in the industry,” said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and president of MGM Resorts in a press release.
Playtech will provide players with on-demand, online access to a combination of next-level, immersive entertainment experiences directly from the two MGM venues.
The parties will eventually broaden the MGM Live portfolio with exclusive access to various Playtech games, branded TV game shows, and celebrity-hosted trivia shows.
“As a leading technology provider in regulated markets, we are delighted that this partnership is pioneering a new live entertainment category and product offering for players in these regulated territories,” commented Mor Weizer, CEO at Playtech.
More ways to play
The BetMGM co-owner has been making moves this year to take advantage of digital audiences.
In its Q1 earnings call, Hornbuckle exclaimed that “iGaming is a real opportunity over time” and 2024 has seen the company make a few moves to capitalize on that.
BetMGM sponsored Wheel Of Fortune’s 8000 episode with a Jackpot promotion when the iconic game show reached that milestone in May.
The Progressive Jackpot at BetMGM in New Jersey eclipsed $4 million in March, too, marking the largest in the operator’s history. Players could win the big prize by playing online in New Jersey which is one of the most prolific iGaming states in the country.
Playtech is the gambling industry’s leading technology company delivering products for casino, live casino, sports betting, virtual sports, bingo, and poker. Collaborating with MGM Resorts in this capacity will set a new precedent for immersive, digital entertainment options that can help attract new customers and also nurture existing patrons.
“As a leading technology provider in regulated markets, we are delighted that this partnership is pioneering a new live entertainment category and product offering for players in these regulated territories,” commented Weizer.
The press release announcing the partnership acknowledged both brands’ intentions to support and promote a safe gambling experience through this proliferation of digital content access.
