Super Bowl LIX novelty and proposition bets are everywhere this week.
From television shows to social media, discussions about how long the National Anthem will last or how many times the coin has landed on heads add another interesting element to the Big Game.
However, not all sportsbooks are offering these types of Super Bowl props for Eagles-Chiefs in each legal U.S. jurisdiction.
Props involving passing yards by Patrick Mahomes or touchdowns by Saquon Barkley are easy to find on sportsbook apps and at brick-and-mortar locations.
Wagering on the color of Gatorade dumped on the Super Bowl-winning head coach? That depends on where you live. And betting on a certain celebrity cheering on No. 87 for the Chiefs might require a passport.
Since each state has its own gaming laws and regulations, Covers breaks down several novelties and props and where you can or can’t bet them in the U.S. and Canada at four popular sportsbooks.

Heads or tails?
Want to be on the coin toss at midfield before kickoff of the Big Game? FanDuel allows coin toss odds in Arizona, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Puerto Rico and Ontario also offer heads or tails through FanDuel.
However, other wagers related to the coin toss, like the winner, won’t be available in all of those states.
BetMGM said the coin toss is available in all of its markets except Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.
DraftKings is the only sportsbook of this trio where North Carolina residents can bet on heads or tails. Betting markets involving coin-toss parlays are also available in the Tar Heel State.
DraftKings also offers the coin toss market in New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois, Oregon, Wyoming, Arizona, Louisiana, and Maryland.
bet365 said heads or tails market is available in New Jersey, Indiana, Arizona, Ontario, and Iowa, but only the Garden State and Hawkeye State have coin toss winner offered.
Colorful bath
Bettors wanting to get in on whether it’s purple, orange, green, or another color of Gatorade dumped on the winning coach face a limited market.
BetMGM offers the color of the sports drink in Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Residents in Washington, D.C., and Ontario, Canada can also participate in this wagering.
DraftKings allows the Gatorade color odds market in New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia, Oregon, and Wyoming.
FanDuel and bet365 are only offering this betting market in two states.

Super Bowl MVP
Betting on who emerges as the Most Valuable Player in the Big Game is one of the oldest and most popular prop bets.
Travis Kelce, Jalen Hurts, Barkley, and Mahomes are just some of the names bettors are risking will receive the honor. The Super Bowl MVP odds market is widely available, including D.C., Puerto Rico, and Ontario.
New York, Virginia, and Vermont are the only three states where FanDuel doesn’t take Super Bowl MVP bets.
BetMGM offers this market everywhere except New York, South Dakota, and Virginia while MVP betting on DraftKings is found in 22 of its 26 states.
National Anthem
“The Star-Spangled Banner” is a market listed by BetMGM. The sportsbook has the length of the song lasting over 120.5 seconds at -150. The under is +115 with over 60% of both the tickets and the handle taking the over.
However, the National Anthem odds market is for bettors in Ontario only.
FanDuel, DraftKings, and bet365 do not offer National Anthem wagering.
Halftime festivities
This non-game-related wagering draws interest in markets for the order of songs by the performer or who will be making guest appearances. Kendrick Lamar will take the stage this Sunday for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show with guest SZA and likely others.
There are markets available in Ontario. Legal sportsbooks in the U.S. are prohibited from offering Super Bowl halftime show odds. Many regulators fear the information for these types of bets can be obtained before the performance and/or manipulated.
Swiftie action
U.S. Swifties will be sadly disappointed for the second consecutive year. Betting markets involving Kelce’s girlfriend and one of the world’s most popular singers Taylor Swift are not available in the U.S. for many of the same reasons listed above.
Swiftie Specials, full of parlay mixings, are only legally available in Ontario, which has a robust market of Taylor Swift props.
What about Nevada?
Las Vegas casinos invented Super Bowl prop betting and made them wildly popular, but Nevada has a different set of wagering rules. FanDuel and DraftKings don’t operate there. BetMGM does, but a lot of the Silver State’s action comes via in-person betting.
Circa Resort and Casino, a popular downtown Vegas retail sportsbook, recently released hundreds of Super Bowl wagering markets, including the coin toss.
