Canadian soccer has a new best friend in the world of online sports betting sites.

The Canadian Premier League (CPL) announced last week that TonyBet is now its official sports betting and online casino partner, succeeding ComeOn!, which previously held that title.

TonyBet is a Baltic-based bookmaker named after poker player and Lithuanian politician Antanas Guoga, who also goes by Tony G. The company received its Ontario sports betting and iGaming registration in December of 2022, allowing the operator to launch recently in the regulated market in Canada’s most populous province.

It's Tony time

“We are excited to add TonyBet to our growing roster of CPL sponsors,” said Mark Noonan, commissioner of the Canadian Premier League and CEO of Canadian Soccer Business, in a press release. “We look forward to working with them on experiences that engage our fans and enhance what it means to be a supporter of the CPL and Canadian soccer in general.”

The CPL’s Match of the Week broadcast, free-to-play prediction contest, and Centre Circle app are now presented by TonyBet. That placement was formerly ComeOn!'s before its partnership with the league wound down; in Ontario, ComeOn! only offers online casino gaming.

“We are delighted to get behind the CPL and to take our brand to a growing and passionate fan base,” said Alex Haig, TonyBet’s country manager for Canada, in the release. “With the CPL being one of the fastest growing leagues in Canada TonyBet is excited to build and enhance the fan experience.”
