The San Francisco Giants have been baseball's best team in 2021, and look to pad their lead in the NL West with an interleague win over the Los Angeles Angels.

At 46-26, the Giants have outpaced the defending World Series champion L.A. Dodgers and open a two-game set with an Angels side that's struggled with consistency.

Find out the best bets for tonight's game as we break down our Giants vs. Dodgers picks and predictions for Tuesday, June 22.

MLB sharp money and line movement report

By Patrick Everson

This moneyline did a little back-and-forth at TwinSpires Sportsbook, with Los Angeles opening -132, dipping a few cents to -127, then rising to -136, where the price sits at 7 p.m. ET. Ticket count is 2/1 on the Giants and money about 2/1 on the Angels. "We’ve seen respected money come in on the Angels, while the public is all over San Francisco. Pros vs. Joes feel to it," TwinSpires trading analyst Zachary Lucas said. The total rose from 8.5 to 9, with the Over attracting 72 percent of tickets/79 percent of cash.

Giants vs Angels betting preview

Starting pitchers

Anthony DeSclafani (7-2, 3.01 ERA): DeSclafani has had great results in his first season in The Bay, pitching to both a career-low ERA and WHIP (1.03) while racking up a formidable 7-2 record. His most recent outing was against Arizona last week, where he gave up one earned run off five hits in as many innings of work.

Andrew Heaney (4-4, 4.45 ERA): While remaining healthy again this year, Heaney has put up another solid, if unspectacular, season for the Angels. His 4.45 ERA isn't overly impressive, but he's racked up 10.85 Ks per nine innings and has allowed just nine homers on the season.

Moneyline pick

We're at a bit of a loss with the Angels being favored in this one, and it's tough to bet against the best team (record-wise) in baseball as an underdog.

While DeSclafani's track record doesn't instill a ton of confidence, he's put up solid numbers at a glance this season. However, his advanced stats paint a murkier picture and suggest that regression might be coming for him.

And while Heaney has been striking out batters at a consistent rate, he's not exactly an innings-eater and will have to turn the ball over to one of the lamest bullpens in the majors (sixth-worst ERA) down the stretch.

The Angels do sport a .258 BA against righties this year (third in MLB), but their OBP in the same split is a pedestrian 14th, as they have the second-fewest walks in the MLB vs. RHPs.

The Giants don't fare much worse than normal against lefties, batting .239 vs. their overall .241 average, so they shouldn't exactly be in tough in this matchup. While they'll miss Evan Longoria's production from the plate, this a solid lineup that can get offense from numerous hitters, especially against the Angels' suspect bullpen.

And that's really where the Giants can derive an edge here. Their bullpen posts the league's sixth-best ERA, and in a matchup of two great hitting teams where neither starter is a stud, we could see the ball turned over relatively early.

Books seem to give the Angels a home edge, but the Giants are better on the road than the Angels are at home, and have been in great form over the past couple of weeks. Don't fall into the trap, back baseball's top team as a dog here.

PREDICTION: San Francisco (+110)

Over/Under pick

This total was bet up quickly, and with good reason.

The Giants and Angels rank fifth and sixth, respectively, in runs per game, while both sit inside the Top 5 in OPS. The Angels are particularly rough on right-handed pitchers, and neither of tonight's starters should fill the opponent's hearts with fear.

The Giants have also been absolutely mashing of late, averaging nine runs per game over the past six contests. Pitting their current form against a so-so starter and one of the MLB's most generous bullpens seems like a recipe for an Over, even against the rising line.

The Angels could easily light up DeSclafani if he's unable to maintain his somewhat-deceiving start, and with all of this happening in one of the MLB's more hitter-friendly parks, the Over is too tempting to say no to.

PREDICTION: Over 9.0 (-110)
