The Houston Astros kick off a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants on Monday night at Daikin Park. Both teams took two of three in their opening series to get off on the right foot.

My Giants vs. Astros prediction looks at Jordan Hicks' strikeout market with my best MLB picks on Monday, March 31.

Giants vs Astros prediction

My Giants vs Astros best bet: Jordan Hicks Over 3.5 strikeouts (-121 at Caesars)

San Francisco Giants pitcher Jordan Hicks had some ups and downs in his first season as a starter last year. The flamethrower had primarily been a closer throughout his career before signing to start with the Giants.

Hicks went 4-7 with 50 earned runs in 109.2 innings last season and kept his strikeout rate up there with 96 punchouts. We’re getting a low line of 3.5 tonight, and I’m happily taking the Over.

The righthander had at least four strikeouts in 14 of 20 starts last season. That included five strikeouts in 4.2 IP against the Houston Astros.

The Astros struck out 23 times in their opening series against the Mets with all three of New York’s starters getting at least four strikeouts. Take advantage of this low number at Caesars with a nice -121 price.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Giants vs Astros same-game parlay (SGP)

Jordan Hicks Over 3.5 strikeouts

Ronel Blanco 6+ strikeouts

Under 8

Houston starter Ronel Blanco also started his career in the bullpen before a breakout season last year. He went 13-6 with a 2.80 ERA and 166 strikeouts in 167.1 IP. Look for him to keep that going in his first start this season.

Neither team has scored too many runs to begin the season, and that should continue with these two on the mound. In fact, Hicks and Blanco faced off last season to a 3-1 decision for Houston.
