Giants vs Dodgers Picks and Predictions: San Fran An Incredible Value As A 'Dog Tonight

The Giants are big underdogs in the rubber match between NL West titans. San Fran is unlucky to not be going for the sweep, however, and their MLB betting value is too good to pass up tonight against the Dodgers.

Moneyline pick

With last night’s comeback victory, the Dodgers now sit just one back behind the Giants for first place in NL West. Now, they’ll try to pull even with the Giants with a series win tonight, and that all starts with Urias.

With injuries, sticky stuff crackdowns, and um, other indiscretions, Urias has arguably been the Dodgers most reliable starter, pitching to a 3.78 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and logging nearly six innings a start. But he’ll be in tough against a solid Giants’ lineup.

San Francisco ranks sixth in scoring this season and are plating 5.36 runs per game over their last 14 games. On top of that, the Giants have gotten to Urias for eight runs on 14 hits in 11 innings of work over two starts this season.

Countering Urias is Webb, who is pitching to a 1.13 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .182 batting average over his last five starts. That includes five innings against the Dodgers, where he allowed just one earned run on one hit while striking out seven.

The Giants should probably have won both games in this series thus far and you likely won’t see another collapse from a bullpen that ranks fourth in ERA and first in WHIP. This is a good value to back the underdog.

PREDICTION: Giants (+140)

Over/Under pick

While these two NL West rivals have played their fair share of high-scoring games this season, resulting in the Over going 7-4 in their 11 meetings, this matchup has a good chance to land Under the total of 8.5.

First of all, while the Giants have been surprisingly solid at the plate this year they rank in the middle of the pack (16th) when it comes to batting average against lefties. They are also slightly less potent when away from home, averaging 4.77 runs per road game. And the matchup against Urias — and a Dodgers bullpen that is third in ERA and fifth in WHIP — won’t make things any easier.

Additionally, the Dodgers are averaging just four runs per game in their last four meetings with the Giants, and that would be even lower if not for Smith’s three-run dinger last night. On top of that, L.A. is dealing with several nagging injuries to important position players, including Mookie Betts and Max Muncy, that may or may not keep them out of a lineup already missing Corey Seager.

With the intensity level for this matchup expected to be high, bet on this one to sneak below the number.

PREDICTION: Under 8.5 (-110)
