The Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Guardians are both off to tough starts this season, so this series gives both an opportunity to right the ship.
Cleveland enters in better form and throws Logan Allen on the bump against the struggling Charlie Morton. Will the veteran turn things around here or will he continue to fade in his twilight years?
Without further ado, let’s get into my Guardians vs Orioles predictions and hand out some MLB picks for Tuesday, April 15.

My Guardians vs Orioles best bet: Guardians moneyline (+130 at DraftKings)
The Cleveland Guardians are on a roll, taking five of their last six to creep over .500, but it’s been no thanks to their offense.
Things picked up in their three-game set with the Kansas City Royals, but they’re still sitting in the bottom half of the league in wRC+ over the past week.
This season has been a confusing one for the ever-disciplined Guardians, who have struck out in an alarming 23.3% of plate appearances as they shift into a power-oriented group. The lineup is walking at a solid 10.1% clip and has its isolated power up to .152, but we’ve yet to see consistency — and in the last week, that power has dissipated.
Now, moving to a better hitter’s park in Camden Yards and facing Charlie Morton could help turn things back around. The righty showed some signs of decline a year ago with a career-worst .402 expected slugging and his second-worst season in terms of strikeouts, and while those punchies have come a bit more frequently in 2025, it’s not enough to make up for his disastrous .285 expected batting average and .540 xSLG. On top of that, he’s had some serious issues with control, walking 12.1% of the batters he’s faced.
On the flip side, it’s hard to look past the Baltimore Orioles’ start offensively. They rank just 14th in wRC+ and 24th against lefties, making production anything but a sure thing against Logan Allen.
Allen failed to generate many outs on contact a year ago, which was tough to see for a low-strikeout, high-walk arm, but the youngster has at the very least come up with more ground balls through his first two outings. That should be a recipe for success with Cleveland’s infield defense sitting third in outs above average in the early going. If he can get the walks down, things could quickly turn in his favor.
Baltimore is walking in just 7.5% of its plate appearances this season and have struck out over a quarter of the time vs. lefties. That, in chorus with continued gains in the ground ball department, could earn Allen a good start here and help Cleveland to another victory.

I’m going to go out on a bit of a limb here with Allen’s strikeout total, but it’s in a very attainable spot. He’s coming off a four-strikeout showing against the Chicago White Sox and should get some help from an Orioles team that has punched out in over 25% of its plate appearances versus lefties.
The strikeout rate is low, yes, but it’s been just two starts — and the youngster owns a 20% strikeout rate for his career, which is just a tick below the league average.
I’d also love to back the up-and-coming Angel Martinez here, but with whispers that Lane Thomas may return to the lineup and send him to the bench, we’ll opt for Jose Ramirez. He should see plenty of curveballs from Morton, a pitch he’s racked up a .262 xBA and .350 xSLG against since the start of 2024, and he’s sporting a career .300 xBA against the veteran.
Ramirez may be a bit quiet at the moment, but this is where he breaks out.
