The New York Mets look to book a spot in the NLDS with a win over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2 of their Wild Card Series.

These teams combined for 12 runs in Game 1, and my Mets vs. Brewers predictions tell you why Game 2 will see just as much offense.

Check it out in my MLB picks for Wednesday, October 2.

Mets vs Brewers prediction

Who will win Mets vs Brewers Game 2?

The Milwaukee Brewers had the New York Mets' number for most of the season, but N.Y. holds all the momentum following a win yesterday. Pair that with a slightly favorable pitching matchup, and I like the Mets to win and wrap up the series today.

My Mets vs Brewers best bet
Over 7.5 (-112 at FanDuel)

My analysis
The Mets and the Brewers had two of the most productive offenses in the majors in 2024, as Milwaukee averaged 4.80 runs per game, with New York right behind it at 4.74.

Today’s pitching matchup doesn’t inspire faith in the Under. The Brewers turn to Frankie Montas, who was acquired at the trade deadline from the Cincinnati Reds. Montas has been better in Milwaukee but still posted a 4.55 ERA in 11 starts with the Brewers.

He continues to serve up too many homers — 10 in just 57 1/3 IP innings with Milwaukee — and has vaguely league-average numbers in most categories.

Meanwhile, today's starter, Sean Manaea, is 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA. Hitters bat just .202 with a .618 OPS against the veteran lefty, but he struggled in his last outing of the season against — you guessed it — Milwaukee. Manaea allowed six runs on seven hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work in a big game for New York.

Manaea shouldn’t be that bad on Wednesday, but it’s hard to imagine the Brewers going out with a whimper, given their offensive success all year long. With the total set at just 7.5 runs and both teams looking poised to light up the scoreboard, take the Over.

Mets vs Brewers same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 7.5

Mets moneyline

Francisco Lindor to record a hit

The Mets have won eight of the last nine times Manaea has taken the mound, and that run of success is poised to continue tonight.

Francisco Lindor continues to rake. He has at least one hit in seven of his last nine games, and I’m taking the MVP candidate to contribute at least one more knock in Game 2.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
