Expert MLB moneyline picks for April 1

Rangers vs Reds: Rangers (-137)

The Rangers were just spanked 14-3, but now send out ace Nathan Eovaldi to get them back in the win column. The veteran was solid in his first start, scattering just three hits across six innings. The Rangers will have the pitching edge, and I don't expect the Reds bats to stay hot.

Mets vs Marlins: Mets (-151)

The New York Mets put up a 10-spot last night, and I expect them to stay hot against the Marlins in this game. Sandy Alcantara is not the pitcher we've known to enjoy the last few seasons, and his command issues will be a major problem. Mets get the win behind Kodai Senga.

Pirates vs Rays: Pirates (+153)

Somehow, someway, the Tampa Bay Rays are 3-1 on the young season and are getting some great hitting up and down the lineup. I was not high on this team coming into the year, and I believe this is the spot they'll struggle. If the Pirates can get average pitching, they have enough pieces in the lineup to attack Shane Baz.

Diamondbacks vs Yankees: Yankees (-111)

Until the New York Yankees bats go cold, I have no choice but to ride them at home. They have plenty of power, which plays right into Yankee Stadium's quirks. The Diamondbacks have a team ERA north of 5.00 and have given up six home runs through four games, which has them among the worst in that category. Yankees and their torpedo bats roll to victory.

Nationals vs Blue Jays: Blue Jays (-158)

Maybe all is not lost with the Blue Jays? After splitting the first four games vs. the Orioles, they got in the win column on Monday with a 5-2 win. Jose Berrios will be looking for a bounce-back performance, and I say he gets it against a weak-hitting Nationals lineup.

Twins vs White Sox: White Sox (+142)

Sometimes you just have to stay with what's working, and right now that's the White Sox bats. They've scored 17 runs in two wins, and in two losses, they've managed just two. Minnesota Twins starter Simeon Woods Richardson is coming off a poor Spring Training, so give me the pale hose at a nice plus-money price.

Royals vs Brewers: Royals (+102)

The Royals put up 11 runs yesterday and now get an even better matchup as the Brewers send out Chad Patrick to the bump. Patrick was brutal in his lone inning of work against the Yankees, giving up a two-run home run. The Brewers look like a team struggling, so we'll take the Royals.

Angels vs Cardinals: Cardinals (-148)

The Angels pulled off a comeback win on Monday, but I don't see them having the same luck on Tuesday. The Cards will send Matthew Liberatore to the bump and I like what he brings to the table. Kyle Hendricks goes for the Angels and I don't believe his outing will last long.

Giants vs Astros: Giants (-112)

Until the Astros show me some semblance of consistent offense, I will fade this team. They're in the bottom third in all major offensive categories, and they won't have the pitching advantage here. Giants roll, again.

Tigers vs Mariners: Mariners (-166)

The Tigers managed six first-inning runs on Monday and held on for a 9-6 win. They won't be as lucky in the early portion today as Logan Gilbert takes the bump for the M's. I like the Mariners to return the favor and tag Casey Mize early and often en route to a victory.

Guardians vs Padres: Padres (-166)

The Padres are 5-0. They are among the best in terms of runs scored and runs allowed through the early exchanges, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. They should have no issues with Logan Allen, and I expect them to run their winning streak to six games.

Cubs vs Athletics: Cubs (-131)

The Cubs tagged the A's for 18 runs on 21 hits, including four long balls. Now they get to tee off against Luis Severino in the same shoebox of a ballpark. This Cubs team can hit, and I expect Justin Steele to have his first good start of the young season.

Braves vs Dodgers: Braves (+122)

The Braves are 0-5, and the sky appears to be falling. However, I'll take them in this spot with a solid pitching advantage as they have Chris Sale on the bump vs. Dustin May. Sooner or later, the Braves will bust out of their early-season slump, and I'm saying it'll be tonight.
