The New York Mets will look to avoid the sweep when they take on the San Diego Padres at Citi Field on Sunday night.
Both clubs have been somewhat starved for offense coming out of the All-Star break, as the Padres have scored only six total runs in the two victories, while the Mets have plated just two.
This will be reflected in our player prop picks for Sunday Night Baseball. Here are our three favorite selections for July 24.

Today’s best Padres vs Mets prop bets
Mus, no fuss
Joe Musgrove has been building a compelling case for his first career NL Cy Young Award this season, and the Mets’ lineup doesn’t present much of an obstacle for him at the moment.
Musgrove has allowed three or more earned runs in only three of his first 16 starts this season, and one of them came at Coors Field just before the All-Star break. If you factor that start out of the equation, “Moose” has a 2.00 ERA over 54 innings of work on the road in 2022.
The Padres ace has no obvious flaws – Musgrove owns a robust 102-23 strikeout/walk ratio, has allowed only nine home runs and four stolen bases, and is yielding a .205 opponent batting average.
Yu Darvish and Blake Snell were able to keep this New York lineup in check over the first two games of this series, giving up only one run over 12 innings while pitching to a 0.92 WHIP and amassing 14 strikeouts. A similar fate appears to be in store for the Amazins against Musgrove on Sunday night.
Joe Musgrove Prop: Under 2.5 earned runs (-140)
Two bases? Forget it, Jake
If the Padres prevail on Sunday night, it will probably not be due to the bat of Jake Cronenworth.
The San Diego second baseman has been slumping in July, batting a modest .194 with 20 strikeouts over 67 at-bats. He has just six extra-base hits this month. Cronenworth has started 18 games in July and has reached two total bases or more in only five of them.
Carlos Carrasco will be his opponent, and Cronenworth fanned in all three at-bats against him when these clubs met at PETCO Park on June 6. “Cookie” held the Friars to two runs over seven frames that evening. He’s also off to a sensational start this month, authoring a 1.56 ERA over three efforts (17 1-3 innings).
Carrasco should keep Cronenworth under control in this one before handing things off to the bullpen. Even if he scratches out a single at some point, Under bettors would still cash in the total bases market. The line is very fair.
Jake Cronenworth Prop: Under 1.5 total bases (-152)
Set Escobar low
Eduardo Escobar has been a streaky hitter for the Mets this year, and he appears to be in the midst of another cold spell after starting this series 0-for-8 with three strikeouts. At plus-money, it’s worth a wager that he’ll be held out of the hit column once more.
The New York third baseman has five separate runs of three or more games without a hit in 2022, including a season-high five-game hitless streak from June 12 to June 19. Escobar played to a .207 average for the month of June, and he’s off to a similar start in July at .208.
Musgrove is among the stingiest starters in baseball when it comes to ceding hits, as he’s eighth in the majors in hits allowed per nine innings at 6.75. Escobar might get only one at-bat against Padres relief pitching, and it figures to be against a high-leverage man.
Eduardo Escobar Prop: Under 0.5 hits (+120)
