It’s another busy night on the diamond, meaning MLB prop players are spoiled for choice. We’ve done some digging to come up with three strong picks for this Wednesday’s slate.
We’ll back a Phillies hitter to help run up the score against a suspect Reds starter, a Red Sox batter to take advantage of a matchup in his favor, and a dominant Diamondback to stay stingy on the mound.
Here are our three favorite MLB player prop picks for Wednesday, August 24.

Have faith in Castellanos
Reds starter T.J. Zeuch has had a rough time settling in for Cincinnati since being called up on August 10, as he’s allowed six runs over four innings in each of his first two appearances.
In fact, he faced the Phillies in Philadelphia on Aug. 16 and surrendered 11 hits, three of which were home runs. The Phils’ sluggers have to be licking their chops ahead of this contest.
Nick Castellanos looks like the best bet in the Philly lineup to grab an RBI on Wednesday, and it could happen very early into this game. He’s been hitting fifth in the order lately, behind Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto, both of whom have been surging at the dish.
Bohm has a .345 average over the last week with a pair of homers and nine RBI. Realmuto has a 1.049 OPS in that same span.
Castellanos has been hard to handle since the All-Star break, batting .312 with four homers and 12 RBI. He’s hitting .345 over the last seven days, and has at least one run driven in through the first two games of this series.
Castellanos haunted his former team in Cincinnati just last week, amassing five hits and two RBI, one of which came on a dinger.
Nick Castellanos Prop: Over 0.5 RBI (+115 at PointsBet)
Berried alive
Jose Berrios has posted some alarming road splits in 2022, going 3-4 with a 6.82 ERA and a .307 opponent batting average. This plays right into the hands of red-hot Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo.
Verdugo boasts a .324 average in August despite going 0-for-9 over his last two tilts. Facing Berrios is just what the doctor ordered for Verdugo to break out of this mini-slump, as the Arizona native is 5 for 11 (.455) lifetime against Berrios with a four-bagger.
Verdugo’s impressive numbers against Berrios aren’t all that surprising, considering lefties are slugging .538 against him this season. Look for Verdugo to either grab two singles or one extra-base hit with relative ease.
Alex Verdugo Prop: Over 1.5 total bases (+100 at DraftKings)
Royal price
Gamblers are getting a great price on Zac Gallen to keep the hits to a minimum against the anemic Royals’ offense on Wednesday night.
Gallen makes his third straight start on the road in this one, but that’s not a problem for him. He’s authored 14 1-3 shutout innings on this personal road trip, fanning 18 batters in the process. Gallen surrendered only six total hits in that span, and one of those outings was at Coors Field.
The New Jersey native is 5-2 as a visitor this year with a 2.63 ERA and .204 opponent batting average.
He’s allowed four or fewer hits in six of his last seven overall. Gallen stands a good chance of adding another such performance to that impressive ledger here, as the Royals are 26th in team batting average (.218) over the last month of play.
Zac Gallen Prop: Under 4.5 hits allowed (+125 at DraftKings)
