The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn’t pull off the World Series sweep over the New York Yankees, and the two storied franchises hit the field for Game 5 on Wednesday, October 30.

New York is turning to veteran Gerrit Cole to send the series back to Los Angeles, and our top MLB picks and Dodgers vs. Yankees predictions for the correct score of Game 5 are calling for the series to continue with a sixth game following a 6-4 New York victory.

Dodgers and Yankees are primed to hit the Over again tonight

The total for Game 5 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees is 8.5, and there has been an average of exactly nine runs per match through the first four games. Los Angeles has averaged 5.9 runs per game during the postseason, and New York has plated 4.7 per.

While Yankees starter Gerrit Cole, and Dodgers righty Jack Flaherty were both sharp in the series opener and combined to allow just three runs, I’m anticipating the short turnaround following Game 1 on Friday to pave the way for both lineups to continue having success at the dish.

Additionally, the underlying metrics for both starters aren’t flattering.

Don't expect long outings from Cole and Flaherty

Cole sports an unimpressive 5.18 xFIP, and Flaherty has only been slightly better with a 4.95 mark. Additionally, the Yankees and Dodgers respectively ranked first and second in wOBA and ISO against right-handed starters during the regular season.

I’m also not expecting either Cole or Flaherty to pitch deep into Wednesday’s game, and the Yankees have had the better bullpen during the postseason. New York relievers sport a 2.47 ERA and 4.20 xFIP compared to the 4.12 and 4.94 marks the Los Angeles bullpen has posted.

New York pulls off a 6-4 Game 5 win to push the World Series back to Los Angeles.
