The Toronto Blue Jays look to secure an impressive series win against the New York Yankees this afternoon when the clubs finish off a four-game set at Rogers Centre.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. exploded for six RBI in Saturday’s win and will aim to finish off a fruitful month of June with another strong showing at the plate.

Will Vladdy help the Jays take three of four from the Yankees? Find out in my Yankees vs. Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks for Sunday, June 30.

Yankees vs Blue Jays prediction

My best bet
Blue Jays Over 3.5 runs (-118 at PROLINE+)

My analysis

The bats have been hot for the Toronto Blue Jays of late and that trend continued Saturday in a 9-3 win against the New York Yankees, led by a three-hit, six-RBI performance from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Toronto has now scored exactly nine runs in three of its last four outings while averaging eight runs per game over that span. With a rusty Gerrit Cole taking the hill for the Yankees, I like the Jays’ chances of running up the score again this afternoon.

Cole was held out for the first two and a half months of the season due to inflammation in his elbow and hasn’t looked like himself in his first two starts back. The reigning AL Cy Young winner was rocked for seven hits, four homers, and six earned runs in just four innings by the Mets in his most recent outing on June 25.

Aside from the rough box score, there were also some concerns about Cole’s velocity. The right-hander hit 97 mph on his fastball in the first inning but that speed dipped significantly throughout the rest of the game as each of his pitches averaged 1-2 mph slower than his usual numbers.

Obviously, there’s still a lot of rust for Cole to shake off after not pitching in the majors for nearly nine months, and that’s something Guerrero Jr. and the Jays can exploit.

Blue Jays star player prop

My best bet
Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI (+130 at PROLINE+)

Just when you thought Vladimir Guerrero Jr. couldn’t get any hotter, he did just that in Saturday’s win with a home run and a season-high six RBI. The Blue Jays slugger has now driven in multiple runs in six straight games with five homers and 19 total RBI over that span.

Guerrero Jr. has historically had success against Cole, batting .323 (10-for-31) in his career against the Yankees starter, with half of those hits being for extra bases. It’s hard to see Vlad slowing down today, especially with Cole struggling in his first few games back.
