Losers of four straight — including the first three of a five-game homestand — it doesn’t get any easier for the Miami Heat, who host a Los Angeles Clippers side Wednesday that's owned them of late.
The Clippers are coming off a loss to the Pelicans on Tuesday, and will be playing the second night of a back-to-back, a big reason why they’re 2.5-point road dogs in the NBA odds.

My analysis
The Miami Heat are coming off an embarrassing 105-102 loss to the Hornets — a team in extended garbage time since before the All-Star break. Offense continues to be an issue for the Heat, who only average 110 points on the season, which ranks 25th.
During this four-game slide, the Heat haven’t been able to crack the 110-point plateau, averaging 105.5 points, shooting 44.4% from the field and 34.7% from 3-point range. Even a Top-7 defense that’s allowed 110.5 points per game can’t bail them out.
The Los Angeles Clippers enter Wednesday with their modest 3-game win streak cooked with a 127-120 loss to the Pelicans, another team that wants to lose more in a lost season.
If there’s a soft spot for them to land, it’s in Miami, as they’ve beaten the Heat three straight games while running a sharp 8-2 record against the spread in the last 10 matchups.
However, there’s a major shortage offensively for them, as Norman Powell (hamstring) is still about 10 days away from being re-evaluated, while Ben Simmons (knee) didn’t come on the trip and Drew Eubanks (hip) missed the NOLA game and his status is still unknown for Miami.
This is all on top of Kawhi Leonard not yet being cleared to play back-to-back games.
The Clippers aren’t a great team on the second night of a back-to-back, going just 5-8 ATS. Then again, Miami isn’t great at capitalizing, going 6-6 ATS when they have a rest advantage.
That leads me to the total: L.A. has cashed the Under in nine of their 13 games playing on a consecutive night, while Miami’s stagnant offense had led them to a 5-0 Under record in its last five. In their only game this season, the teams combined for just 207 points in an L.A. 109-98 win.
