Clippers vs Spurs Prediction, Picks, and Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs are in a slump of sorts, but Eric Rosales' NBA betting picks think they can snap out of it vs. a Clippers team playing the latter half of a back-to-back tonight.

The surging Los Angeles Clippers look to make it nine straight wins against the San Antonio Spurs when they two teams clash on New Year’s Eve.

However, the Clippers will be playing the second night of a back-to-back and are 4-point road underdogs in the NBA odds tonight.

My Clippers vs. Spurs predictions and NBA picks for Tuesday, December 31 favor the home team.

Clippers vs Spurs prediction

My best bet
Spurs -4 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis

The Los Angeles Clippers kicked off a three-game road trip with a 116-113 victory over the hapless New Orleans Pelicans, giving them three straight wins and victories in five of the last six. This run has pushed them past both the Nuggets and Lakers and currently into the No. 5 seed in the ultra-jammed Western Conference playoff picture.

The Clippers boast a Top-5 scoring defense, allowing just 107.3 points per game. They’ve been even stingier on this streak, dropping down to 105 points, limiting opponents to 42.5% shooting from the field and 33.9% from 3-point range.

They put the vice grips on the San Antonio Spurs in their only meeting so far this season, winning 113-104. L.A. held San Antonio to 44.2% from the field, and a dismal 11-for-41 from beyond the arc (26.8%).

The Spurs are returning home after a tough road trip, picking up just one win across four games. On a positive note, those three losses — to Philadelphia, New York, and last time out to the Minnesota Timberwolves — were all by five points for less.

All eyes will be on super sophomore Victor Wembanyama, who has led the Spurs in scoring in 10 straight games. Against the Clippers, he had 24 points, 13 rebounds, nine blocks, three steals and three assists.

This will be the seventh time L.A. will be playing on consecutive nights, going 3-3 over the previous five. Their offense, which already ranks in the bottom half of the league at 109.6 points per contest, dips to 102 points per game on the second night of back-to-backs.

Clippers vs Spurs same-game parlay

Spurs -4

Norman Powell Over 23.5 points

Wembanyama Over 3.5 made threes

We knew Norman Powell could score, but the 31-year-old is enjoying his finest season as a pro, scoring 24.2 points per game on 49.5% shooting.

He’s led the Clippers in scoring in five straight games and has scored at least 26 points in six straight, including a 35-point banger to dump the Pelicans on Monday night.

With Kawhi still out and James Harden gearing down from his scoring days, Powell is the main source of offense and should get his against the Spurs — a team he lit up for 23 in the first meeting.

You never know what insane stat line you’re going to get with Wembanyama, but the one thing he’s done consistently is launch from 3-point range, averaging 9.8 jacks in 11 December games.

Argue all you want about his 7-foot-4 stature and how it belongs in the post, but Wemby has hit at least four triples in five of his last six, the lone miss coming in a 3-for-6 effort against the Nets.

The Clips defend the arc with some of the best, allowing teams to shoot just 34.3%, but there’s no one that can contest the Frenchman.
