Unlike the Atlanta Hawks, who everyone thought were going to trade Dejounte Murray and hit the reset button at the NBA trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers actually made a move before the deadline.
Buddy Hield is headed to the 76ers, and this was a huge get for Philly, who could desperately use more shooting on its roster, and it could also signal that the front office expects Joel Embiid to return this season.

Sometimes in sports betting, we can run into a scenario where a player just bursts onto the scene due to a new role or increased minutes, and the sportsbooks just can't adjust their total fast enough. That's Onyeka Okongwu.
The 76ers aren't the only team missing their starting center, as Clint Capela is also out for the Hawks against the 76ers. Okongwu, who has started the last two games, is averaging 34.5 minutes per game and 18.5 points per game in his absence.
This isn't one of those scenarios where Okongwu is playing well and the sportsbooks haven't adjusted his totals. They most certainly have. From 8.5 points to 12.5 points is the move we're seeing for Okongwu. The thing with Okongwu in this spot is it hasn't moved enough, and it's still creating a probability gap for us to attack.
Okongwu can score the basketball; his weakness is his defense. But with Paul Reed on the other side, that won't get exposed, and it will allow for Quinn Snyder to play Okongwu for 35 minutes. Okongwu is also the beneficiary of playing with teammates who can penetrate the lane and use him as a lob threat.
Dejounte Murray missed Wednesday's game, but I'm sure his back (trade) will be fine on Friday, and we will see him suit up for the Hawks. With Trae Young and Murray in the backcourt, the Hawks' guards should be able to create wide-open dunks for Okongwu, and with Embiid out, there's no rim protection in this 76ers lineup.
The 76ers also just dealt Patrick Beverley at the deadline, which will hurt their ability to contain the Hawks' guards from penetrating the lane and creating for Okongwu.
Onyeka Okongwu odds are favorable, as he's projected to score 14.1 points on Friday against the 76ers, which allows us to price the Over 12.5 points at -140, but it is trading at BetMGM at +100.

The ability of the Hawks' guards to create offense and the lack of rim protection in the paint will lead to several easy buckets for Okongwu, but the one thing that will go a long way in us getting a green checkmark on our best bet is Okongwu knocking down a 3-pointer.
Don't kid yourself; he's a center, but Okongwu can shoot the ball from beyond the arc. As a backup center, he doesn't attempt many, but in the two games we have seen him start, we've seen him knock down three triples. One 3-pointer from Okongwu would be massive to our best bet of him going Over his points prop, and it's why I'm pairing these props together in our SGP.
I highlighted in our best bet that I think the Hawks' guards will be able to knife their way through the lane at will against the 76ers and create open dunks for Okongwu. That being said, it makes sense to throw an assists prop into our SGP, and after looking at Young, Murray, and Jalen Johnson, I think Young has the best price.
