The Miami Heat are finally getting healthier and their push up the Eastern Conference standings continues tonight as they take on the Atlanta Hawks in the latest NBA odds

Jimmy Butler returned this week after missing seven games with a toe injury and the Heat had won three in a row before getting blown out by Toronto on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Hawks have to be on the list of the NBA’s biggest disappointments this season, and a 17-23 record suggests a shake-up could be coming at the trade deadline.

Check out our NBA picks and predictions for a closer look at tonight’s showdown between Southeast Division rivals.

Hawks vs Heat predictions

With Jimmy Butler back on the court, the Miami Heat can settle back into familiar roles. For Bam Adebayo, that means a little less of a scoring burden, but still a major role as a playmaker and rebounder.

That’s where I’m looking for my best bet tonight — and I like this line for Adebayo’s combined rebounds and assists. It helps that he’s coming off a 20-rebound night against Brooklyn earlier in the week, and he should be able to get the majority of this prop total on the boards here.

Bam has averaged 11 rebounds a night over the past 15 games, and he’s had 15 or more four times over that stretch.

Though Adebayo's assist numbers aren’t as consistent, he’s racked up at least four dimes in each of his past five games, including two seven-assist efforts last week. He should thrive again tonight with both Butler and Tyler Herro feeding off his ability to direct traffic from the high post.

Adebayo has hit the Over on this prop line in four of his last five outings, and I’m predicting another monster stat line against an Atlanta Hawks team that’s been wildly erratic so far in 2024.

My best bet: Bam Adebayo Over 16.5 rebounds and assists (-105 at bet365)

Hawks vs Heat same-game parlay

Bam Adebayo Over 16.5 rebounds and assists

Tyler Herro Under 22.5 points

Heat moneyline

Butler’s return will generally mean fewer shots for Herro, and I’m fading his points prop tonight in my SGP. Herro made just seven of his 20 field goal attempts in Toronto on Wednesday, and he’s got a tough matchup on deck here against Atlanta’s Dejounte Murray.

Herro has fallen short of this prop line in six of his last eight games with some up-and-down shooting from 3-point range, and his free-throw attempts have dipped this month as well.

I’m also picking the Heat to pad their 12-7 home record. They’ve won four of the last five meetings between these teams, including both contests this season.

Though Trae Young is expected to play despite being listed as questionable due to an illness, it’s tough to trust the Hawks in this spot, especially with trade rumors swirling around the franchise.

Hawks vs Heat spread and Over/Under analysis

The Heat are a 6.5-point home favorite tonight and I’m expecting a strong response after a no-show in Toronto where they trailed 78-43 at halftime. Miami’s defense had been airtight before that letdown, allowing 96 points or fewer in the prior three games.

Though they could be without breakout rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr., who’s doubtful with a groin injury, the hosts may have Kevin Love back to help in the rebounding battle against Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu.

The Hawks are clinging to a play-in spot and have dropped their last two contests on the road. Make no mistake, the pressure is on for Atlanta in the lead-up to the trade deadline. Plus, with De’Andre Hunter injured, the Butler matchup looms large as a major problem for the visitors.

Miami has been doing it with defense lately, so it’s not a surprise to see that the Heat have been hammering the Under, which is 8-2 in the hosts’ last 10 outings — and also 8-2 in these teams’ past 10 meetings.

While I don’t expect a repeat of the Heat’s old-school 96-95 OT win over the Nets this week, I still like the Under on tonight’s line of 226.5, particularly if Young isn’t feeling 100%.
