Hornets vs Suns Prediction, Picks, and Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The Hornets have extra rest after two games were postponed due to the California fires. This can help them keep tonight's clash with the Suns within than the 7.5-point spread.

As the Phoenix Suns look to turn things around, they've strung together back-to-back wins and host the eight-win Charlotte Hornets tonight.

Despite Charlotte's extensive struggles, our Hornets vs Suns predictions expect them to be able to play inside tonight's +7.5 spread.

Hornets vs Suns prediction

My best bet
Hornets +7.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis

When it was announced that Bradley Beal would be removed from the starting lineup, many chalked it up as a sign that the Phoenix Suns' season was effectively over.

But the Suns have won three of their last four since that change, and Beal has excelled in his new role, turning in nearly as many 25-point performances (two) as he had in the two months prior (three).

But that one loss during that stretch was to the Charlotte Hornets, who have not played since after a pair of postponements due to the California fires.

That may be a strange blessing for the eight-win team, as the defensive masterclass the Hornets put on the Suns the last time they met may be fresh on their minds.

They held everyone except Kevin Durant and Devin Booker to 10 points or fewer and managed a double-digit win despite shooting 27% from three.

So there is definite room for improvement for the Charlotte offense, but the same might not be the same for the Suns.

Despite the Beal-related lineup change and the recent string of wins, they still managed just 112.5 points per game and the competition wasn't overly impressive by any means (Sixers, Hornets, Hawks, and Jazz).

Hornets vs Suns same-game parlay

Hornets +7.5

Mark Williams Over 11.5 points

Devin Booker Under 2.5 turnovers

Young center Mark Williams shot abnormally poorly (2-for-7) and tied for his second-lowest usage (seven field-goal attempts) in his last eight games, so we should expect better volume and efficiency against a Suns defense that allows the third-most points to opposing centers.

On the other side of the matchup, Booker should find success again (39 points last game) but with a slightly cleaner game, turnover-wise.

He had three in the last clash and has been a bit sloppy as of late (has three or more in four of his last five), but the Hornets have been the second-worst team at forcing turnovers against opposing point guards.
