Kelly Oubre Jr. has made the most out of opportunity due to key injuries on the 76ers roster. Tonight, he will get his work in against a debilitated Jazz team reeling with several starters out of the lineup.

There are tons of injuries on both sides for tonight’s game between the Utah Jazz and Philadelphia 76ers, which leaves room for some different names to shine.

Kelly Oubre Jr. has stepped up for the Sixers in light of their recent injury woes and I’ll look for him to bring the scoring in my Jazz at 76ers predictions and NBA picks for this 7:30 p.m. tip on Sunday, March 9.

Jazz vs 76ers prediction

My best bet
Kelly Oubre Jr. Over 21.5 points (-120 at bet365)

My analysis
The Utah Jazz have been completely decimated by injuries with four of their five usual starters ruled out for tonight’s game. And while the Philadelphia 76ers haven’t been bit by the injury bug quite as hard, they’re still missing both top scorers, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

Those absences have allowed other players to shine. Kelly Oubre Jr. has certainly taken advantage, scoring 20+ points in four straight games while averaging 24.5 points per game over that span — nearly 10 points higher than his season average.

His increased production has come from his hot hand from 3-point range plus a jump in his attempts from the field. Oubre has scored 11 threes over his last four games while shooting 52% from beyond the arc. On top of that, he’s taking 17.3 field-goal attempts per game this month, five more than he’s averaged this season.

The Jazz rank 28th in the NBA in points allowed per game (119.7) and with key defenders like Walker Kessler and John Collins out, Oubre will have plenty of room to operate and pile up the points.

Jazz vs 76ers same-game parlay

Kelly Oubre Jr. Over 21.5 points

Kyle Filipowski Over 9.5 rebounds

Over 228

While Oubre has stepped up for the Sixers, Kyle Filipowski has done the same for the injury-riddled Jazz. The forward has snatched at least 10 rebounds in four of his last seven games. Outside of one contest where he played just 14 minutes, Filipowski has averaged 10.2 boards across his last six games.

The Over is also the play tonight as it’s cashed in four of Philly’s last six games and 12 of Utah’s last 15.
