My analysis
The Washington Wizards and the Utah Jazz aren’t exactly the cream of the crop in the NBA, as both are among the worst in the league offensively and defensively.
So what has me favoring the Under tonight? In short, the lack of offensive talent that remains healthy and available tonight.
Washington will again be without leading scorer Jordan Poole (21.0 ppg), who remains out of action with an elbow injury. Malcolm Brogdon (12.7 ppg) is out as well, which will likely leave midseason acquisition Khris Middleton to carry the load for the Wizards.
Middleton has scored 17 and 16 points in his last two games — leading the team in scoring both times — but that’s hardly an output that will test any defense.
The Jazz can normally put together a more credible offensive attack, but a series of injuries and ailments has Utah scrambling to assemble a competitive lineup for tonight’s game.
Lauri Markkanen (19.3 ppg) will miss tonight’s game with a back injury, John Collins (18.6 ppg) is out with a back issue, Collin Sexton (18.2 ppg) is out due to his own back problems, while Jordan Clarkson (16.6 ppg) and Walker Kessler (11.5 ppg) are listed as out on tonight’s injury report as well.
Of Utah’s top six scorers, only Keyonte George (16.7 ppg) is playing tonight, and even he was listed as questionable due to an illness, leading to questions over how many effective minutes he’ll be able to play.
The Jazz rank 22nd in offensive rating this year but score a bit more due to their pace of play. With so few options to turn to, Utah coach Will Hardy will almost certainly have to slow things down tonight.

In a low-scoring game between two of the worst teams in the NBA that are both missing their best scoring options, the Jazz are notably more shorthanded. I don’t trust the Wiz as five-point favorites tonight, but they’re the clear pick to win at home against the players Utah puts on the floor.
George has been stepping up for the Jazz in the absence of other leading scorers, but he’s still averaging only 16.7 ppg, and has only hit the Over on tonight’s total of 21.5 points twice in his last 13 games. With scoring limited tonight, I’m taking the Under.
