It’s a matchup of two of the most exciting teams in the Eastern Conference as Kevin Durant, James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets visit DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and the Chicago Bulls.

Despite coming into this game riding a five-game winning streak, the Nets are underdogs for this matchup in what is the second half of a back-to-back. Meanwhile, the Bulls have dropped two games in a row after a 6-1 start to the season.

Nets vs Bulls picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

The Nets will be playing the second half of a back-to-back after Sunday’s 116-103 road win over the Toronto Raptors, easily covering as 3.5-point chalk. Brooklyn’s dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and James Harden led the way, putting up 31 and 28 points respectively.

Meanwhile, the new-look Bulls got off to a fast start beginning the year 6-1, but dropped consecutive decisions to the Philadelphia 76ers. A problem for the Bulls in those games was they went cold from long range.

Chicago ranks sixth in 3-point shooting percentage for the season but managed to hit just 24.1 percent of its attempts during those two losses. Now, it faces a Nets team that does a decent job of guarding the perimeter, ranking eighth in opponent 3-point shooting percentage.

On the other side, the Bulls have to deal with arguably the most lethal offensive duo in the NBA in Durant and Harden. They create so many problems for opposing defenses and while the Bulls have improved greatly at that end of the floor this season, one place they have struggled is defending the 3-ball.

The Bulls rank 25th in opponent 3-point percentage and not only have to deal with Durant and Harden but the likes of Patty Mills and Joe Harris as well.

Despite the fact the Nets are playing their second game in as many nights, they have exactly the tools required to take down this Bulls team. We’re leaning towards the Nets moneyline in this one.

Prediction: Nets ML (+100)

While the early money for this Eastern Conference matchup has come in on the Over, the number looks high enough to lean the other way. That’s partly because this is a matchup of surprisingly good defensive teams.

When you normally think of the Nets and Bulls you would probably think scoring, scoring, and more scoring, with defense secondary but that has not been the case this season. The Nets rank sixth in the NBA in defensive rating and are allowing just 103.3 points per game, while the Bulls rank seventh in defensive rating giving up just 102.7 points per contest.

While the Bulls got off to a good start on offense, it is clear there are still chemistry issues on that end of the floor that came to light against the Sixers. They still have a bunch of ball-dominant guys getting used to playing with each other. Additionally, the Nets might hit a wall at some point, playing their second game in as many nights.

With teams also in the middle of the pack in the NBA when it comes to pace, we’d lean towards the Under here.

Prediction: Under 216.5 (-110)

There hasn’t been any mention of load management for either Kevin Durant or James Harden for this matchup but there’s a chance it could happen so, we’re going to play it safe with a guy who will be jacking up treys whether or not the big guys give it a go.

Nets shooting guard Joe Harris takes the second-most 3-point attempts of anyone on the team, firing up 6.9 shots from beyond the arc per game. We’ve already talked about how the Bulls have trouble defending the 3-ball and Harris is averaging 2.8 makes per game so you’ve got to love the value on the Over.

Pick: Joe Harris Over 2.5 Made Threes (+100)
