My analysis
The Brooklyn Nets are just 23-45 this season, but they haven’t just rolled over. Brooklyn is a healthy 36-31-1 ATS overall, and the team has found plenty of success on the road.
The Nets are 20-14-1 away from Barclays and 19-12-1 as the road underdog. Brooklyn has covered in 32 of 58 games as the underdog across all venues, and the Nets have been competitive against divisional opponents with a 7-4-1 ATS record.
Conversely, the Boston Celtics have the third-best record in the Association at 49-19 but are just 30-37-1 ATS. Boston is 15-20 ATS at home, 29-35-1 as the favorite, and 7-7 against Atlantic Division opponents.
The Nets are 5-4 ATS as underdogs of 13 points or more, and Boston is just 5-9 when favored by at least that many points. That includes a 4-6 ATS mark as 13-point favorites at home. Brooklyn lost all three head-to-head matchups with Boston this season, and they dropped one by 25. They lost by four and two in the other two games, taking the Celtics to overtime in one of them.
With Jaylen Brown out and Jayson Tatum banged up, Boston’s roster is still deep enough to deliver a win, but the offense won’t be firing on all cylinders without the pair of leading scorers. I’ll take the Nets to cover, but the Celtics should be able to take them down outright in what I expect to be a low-scoring slugfest.

The Nets are just 30-38 to the Under this season, and the Celtics are 31-36-1. Brooklyn has hit the Under in 18 of 32 as the road dog, 20 of 35 on the road, and seven of 12 against the Atlantic Division. Boston has hit the Under in 16 of 35 as the home favorite, nine of 14 against the Atlantic Division, and 34 of 67 as the favorite.
The Nets can’t win a shootout against Boston, so their only hope will be to keep this one ugly and low-scoring.
Brooklyn has been great at keeping the game close throughout the 2024-25 campaign, but the Nets haven’t turned those competitive affairs into wins. Boston is 23-12 straight up as the home favorite, while the Nets are just 11-21 as the road underdog.
Boston will be without Brown, and Tatum is questionable after getting added to the injury report on Monday evening. Even without the two superstars, Boston has enough firepower from Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Payton Pritchard to deliver a victory at the Garden.
