Painting the Kings
Despite what seems like a never-ending string of injuries the, Toronto Raptors have seemingly broken out of their funk. The Raptors have won three of their last four games and they’ll look to make it four of five when they host the Sacramento Kings on Monday night.
The Kings have dropped two games in a row, following a three-game winning streak. But if the Raps want to keep this momentum going they will need to take advantage of the Kings’ biggest weakness and that is on the inside.
Sacramento allows the most points in the paint per game in the NBA while ranking 24th in rebounding percentage. That should mean a big night for Raptors power forward Pascal Siakam.
It has been an up-and-down season for Siakam, but he has picked up his game recently. The power forward is averaging 21.2 points and 8.3 rebounds over his last 10 games. That includes going for 32 and 8 in his last meeting against the Kings.
Siakam’s points and rebounding total is on the board at 30.5, a number he has gone Over in two of his last three games and now gets a juicy matchup against Sacramento. Bet on him to crown the Kings in this one.
Pick: Pascal Siakam Over 30.5 points + rebounds (-110 at DraftKings)
Buzzing from beyond the arc
Kelly Oubre Jr. and the Charlotte Hornets continue to let it fly from downtown this season. The Hornets lead the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage and Oubre went 4-10 from deep in the Hornets' last win over the Kings. Don’t expect Oubre to slow down when the Hornets visit the Dallas Mavericks tonight.
Oubre jacks up 7.7 attempts from 3-point range this season hitting on 38.6 percent of his attempts. But over the last eight games, he has upped that to 10.5 attempts per game while upping his percentage to 41.7.
Oubre now faces a Mavericks defense that really struggles to defend the perimeter, ranking 23rd in the NBA in opponent 3-point percentage. Now, they don’t allow a ton of threes per game but it’s hard to pass up this value considering he's hit four or more threes five times over the last eight games and hasn't attempted fewer than seven.
Pick: Kelly Oubre Jr. Over 3.5 made threes (+140 at DraftKings)
This Sun actually a black hole for points
Tonight’s matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Clippers will be missing some star power as Devin Booker and Paul George are unlikely to play, that means there will be plenty of weight on Reggie Jackson’s shoulders in this one.
Jackson is averaging 17.5 points this season but is coming off a performance against the Magic where he put up 25 points without George in the lineup. That said, the Magic aren’t the Suns. The Magic rank 29th in defensive rating compared to the Suns’ second.
A big reason for the Suns' prowess at that end of the court is the play of Mikal Bridges. The wing is an absolute black hole. If you come anywhere within his wingspan he sucks the ball in and is just incredibly hard to score against and his assignment for a chunk of this one should be Jackson.
Prior to the last game against the Magic, Jackson had scored fewer than 20 points in seven consecutive games shooting just 34.5 percent from the field. That is likely to continue with this matchup against Bridges and the Suns. Bet him to stay Under his point total in this one.
Pick: Reggie Jackson Under 19.5 points (-125 at DraftKings)
