Talk about an intriguing night of NBA action. There are six games on the board for NBA player prop bettors to dive into, but everyone’s attention will be in Los Angeles.
That’s where LeBron James will try to take down Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, when the Lakers host the Thunder. Now, with so much attention on this game, LeBron’s point total is a little inflated, but I think I’ve found some value with one of his teammates and a few others around the NBA tonight.
Here are my best NBA player prop picks for Tuesday, February 7.

JV's encore
Despite the recent struggles for the Pelicans, you can’t put any blame on big man Jonas Valanciunas. JV has been solid as a rock in the middle for New Orleans ever since the calendar flipped over to 2023.
Valanciunas is averaging 16.7 points on 57.8% shooting from the field while adding 10.6 rebounds per game over that stretch and has notched a double-double 13 times in those 18 contests.
JV will have a great chance to add to those numbers tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks are an undersized team in general and it has hurt them on the glass, ranking 24th in rebounding rate. With the large number of shots they take (fourth most per game in the NBA) plenty of rebounds are up for grabs in Hawks games. As a result, they rank 27th in opponent rebounds per game.
They also rank 26th in opponent points in the paint, so getting to double-digit points shouldn’t be a problem for Valanciunas in this one. When these two last met back on Nov. 5, JV of course recorded a double-double consisting of 13 points and 17 boards.
At plus money, I’m backing Valanciunas to keep putting in good work.
Jonas Valanciunas prop: To record a double-double (+105)
MPJ lets it fly
The Denver Nuggets look like they are reaching their full potential now that Nikola Jokic is no longer having to do everything himself. With Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. finally healthy, Jokic has some scorers around to support him.
Tonight, Porter Jr. will have the opportunity to get some buckets when the Nuggets host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
When he’s on the court, Porter is having a solid season shooting. He’s averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 40.8% from 3-point range, and Porter has been even better of late.
The Nuggets wing is shooting 43.3% from beyond the arc over his last nine games on 7.4 attempts per game, and the matchup for Porter against the Wolves is a good one.
With Rudy Gobert manning the middle, Minnesota tends to collapse on the ball when it moves inside and that leaves it vulnerable on the perimeter. As a result, Minny ranks 24th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage and 19th in opponent 3-point attempts per game.
Porter has drained 3+ threes seven times over the last nine games. Now, the two games where he didn’t came against the Wolves but he also went 4-for-6 from three against them back on Jan. 2.
With the way he is shooting the ball right now, the Over 2.5 made 3-pointers is worth a look at this price.
Michael Porter Jr. prop: Over 2.5 made 3-pointers (-115)
A benefit to the chase
When it comes to tonight’s game between the Lakers and the Thunder, all everyone will be talking about is LeBron James but tonight, I’m focused on Anthony Davis.
AD is averaging 12 rebounds per game this season and has grabbed 14 in each of his last two games. He could have a similar night against the Thunder.
OKC is an undersized team that plays a lot of small ball lineups, so it’s not surprising that the Thunder struggle to clean the glass, ranking 27th in rebounding rate. Like the Hawks, OKC is a high-volume shooting team.
In fact, the Thunder take more shots per game than anyone in the NBA while ranking 20th in effective field goal percentage. As a result, the Thunder rank dead last in the NBA in opponent rebounds per game.
I’m willing to bet LeBron will let Davis do the heavy lifting on the boards while focusing on buckets and history.
Anthony Davis prop: Over 12.5 rebounds (-102)
