Raptors vs 76ers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

Despite several starters missing, the Raptors will find a way to get buckets against a piss-poor 76ers' D.

I’m not sure the Toronto Raptors know how to properly tank. They've won four of their last five games and now host a Philadelphia 76ers team that looks allergic to preventing buckets.

That means my 76ers vs. Raptors predictions are targeting Toronto's team total.

Read about that and more in my NBA picks for this Atlantic Division clash set to tip off at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto at 7:30 pm ET on Wednesday, March 12.

Raptors vs 76ers prediction

My Raptors pick: Raptors team total Over 112.5 (-125 at PointsBet Canada)

My analysis
The Toronto Raptors don’t have what it takes to tank with the likes of the Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz.

Not only have the Raptors won four of their last five games, but they're 14-12 in the last 26 overall. Heading into tonight’s game, they sit just a half-game behind tonight’s opponent, the nosediving Philadelphia 76ers.

At this point, Toronto looks closer to a Play-In spot than a Top 5 pick, but it's doing its part with tonight’s injury report to ensure the tank is still on with several featured players out.

Fear not Raptors fans! It looks like the Sixers are trying to at the very least keep up with the Raptors' injury report extravaganza as they also have several starters set to miss action.

Injuries and lack of effort have resulted in Philly looking bad on the defensive end of the floor. The Sixers now rank 26th in defensive rating and dead last in opponent effective field goal percentage while surrendering 124.1 points per game over the last eight games.

The Raptors team total is sitting at 112.5. Now, all the absentees for Toronto might have you worrying a bit but don’t worry, the Raps have been playing with their makeshift roster for a while now and have still gone Over this number in four straight games.

This matchup with Philly is arguably the best yet. Give me the Raptors to go Over in this matchup, as they'll care just a bit more than their opponent.

Raptors vs 76ers same-game parlay

Raptors team total Over 112.5

Jakob Poeltl 15+ points

Quentin Grimes 20+ points

With the availability of so many Raptors in question tonight, there aren’t many options for who will score those points, but one guy on the board is Jakob Poeltl.

The Raptors’ big man is averaging 14.2 points per game and has seen his minutes dip a bit lately as the team experiments with different lineups. However, Poeltl has been efficient lately, shooting 67.7% from the floor and averaging 18 points over the last three games — scoring at least 16 in each.

He’ll face a porous defense from the 76ers that lacks a presence down low. The Sixers have allowed the fourth-most points in the paint per game over the last 10 games.

Let’s give a shoutout to Quentin Grimes, the only man on the Philly roster who seems to give a damn. Grimes is averaging 25.7 points per game over his last six, topping 25 points four times during that stretch.

The Raptors defense has been solid lately, but it's hard to take anything away from that when the opponents are the Wizards, Jazz, and Magic.

He began at Covers as a news editor and has now done everything under the sun when it comes to content. His work has been seen on TSN, Sportsnet, VSiN, and CBS.

These days Andrew’s betting expertise is focused on his favorite teams – the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors. He’s also an avid college football fan and bettor. You can also call him Covers’ Sixth Man, as he regularly steps up to guest host Before You Bet and our MLB and NCAAF release shows.

The sportsbook where he does the bulk of his betting is bet365 thanks to its numerous prop betting options and competitive odds. His best advice? Find the balance between the numbers and what you see on the playing field. Then find the best price using multiple books. And don’t ask him where the nickname Taco comes from. It’s not an interesting story. Seriously.
