The Toronto are trying to tank, but unfortunately for them, other teams are just better at it. This includes the Brooklyn Nets, who have lost seven of their last eight games overall.
However, Toronto is still an underdog in this matchup, so my Raptors vs. Nets predictions break down why there is value in a Raps win.

My Raptors pick: Raptors moneyline (+115 at PointsBet Canada)
My analysis
The Toronto Raptors are trying to tank. They are regularly keeping impact players out of games for things like “rest” or “illness”, and those who do start are eventually pulled, even if the game is close late.
Unfortunately for Toronto, the team is too well coached under Darko Rajakovic, and there remains superior talent compared to bottom feeders like the Charlotte Hornets, Utah Jazz, and Washington Wizards.
Just look at the Raptors’ latest win against the Wizards. The Raptors held just a 2-point lead early in the fourth quarter when starters Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl both left the game for good. Toronto ended up winning that game 112-104 as 2.5-point road underdogs.
Although Quickley and Poeltl will sit out against the Brooklyn Nets tonight, Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett are currently not listed on the injury report. Keep an eye on their status, but this has been the modus operandi for the Raps recently.
Brooklyn enters this game with just three wins in 18 games since the All-Star break. The Nets rank 26th in offensive rating during this period, which includes averaging just 99.8 points per contest over their last four games.
Meanwhile, preventing buckets has been the strength of this Raptors team since the break, ranking fifth in defensive rating. This is another situation where I’m not sure why the Raptors are underdogs. I like their chances to win outright, so I’ll take them on the moneyline.
Raptors vs Nets same-game parlay
Jamal Shead is getting regular minutes as opposed to the starters, and he’s making the most of it.
Shead is averaging 11 points per game while shooting 37.9% from 3-point range over his last six games. He’s scored 10 or more points five times over that stretch, so I'm taking him to hit double digits again tonight.
Let’s close out this SGP with D’Angelo Russell to finish Under 16.5 points. The Nets aren’t interested in winning either, and Russell has been inactive for four of Brooklyn’s last eight games.
Russell is a capable scorer, but the Raptors' improved defense should put pressure on him. His point total is sitting at 16.5 — a number Russell has fallen short of in five of his last eight starts.

Raptors vs Nets spread and Over/Under analysis
- The Raptors opened this matchup as slight 1.5-point road underdogs and have since been faded to 2.5.
- The total hit the board at 215.5 and has been bet down to 214.5 as of Wednesday afternoon.
- That is the lowest total on the board for Wednesday, which makes sense. The Raps actually rank 27th in offensive rating since the All-Star break. Two struggling offenses and at least one strong defense typically point to the Under.
