It’s a despair derby today at United Center as the slumping Phoenix Suns take on a Chicago Bulls team that’s inching towards a rebuild.
Still, Chicago’s five-game losing run narrowly beats out the visitors’ four-game skid, and my Suns vs. Bulls predictions expect Phoenix’s offense to find a groove here.
Check out my NBA picks and betting tips for a closer look at this February 22 clash.
Suns vs Bulls prediction
My best bet
Bradley Beal Over 16.5 points (-105 at bet365)
My analysis
The NBA trade deadline has come and gone – and predictably, Bradley Beal is still with the Phoenix Suns. But, while his hefty contract and no-trade clause get most of the attention, don’t sleep on Beal’s ability as a shot-maker, even in his Sixth Man role.
Beal is averaging 20.5 ppg in his four outings this month, and he dropped 19 points on the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday with an efficient 8-for-14 shooting line. I’m picking him to deliver a similar performance today against the Chicago Bulls.
It’s no secret that the Phoenix shot distribution starts with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, but Beal is making 40% of his 3-pointers this season and can step into a bigger creative role when either Durant or Booker head to the bench.
Beal has gone past this generous 16.5 O/U line in five of his last six contests, including a pair of 25-point games at the start of February, and he’s taken 42 shots across his past three outings.
This is a favorable matchup too, with the Bulls allowing the second-most points per game in the league this season (120.6). While Nikola Vucevic and Josh Giddey are both listed as probable, this Chicago defense is full of holes, and Billy Donovan’s second unit looks ill-equipped to deal with Beal in attack mode.
Despite the Suns arriving on the heels of a dismal 2-8 stretch, they’ve scored at least 110 points in six of those contests and I’m predicting Beal to thrive again here as the visitors’ over-qualified No. 3 scoring option.
Suns vs Bulls same-game parlay
Kevin Durant is knocking down 3-pointers at an impressive 41% clip this season – more or less on par with last year’s efficiency – and I’m taking the Over on 1.5 made triples for my SGP.
KD went 3-for-6 from downtown on Thursday in San Antonio and he’s drilled at least two 3-pointers in nine of his last 10 games. The Bulls allow the second-most attempts from beyond the arc per game (39.7), and I see Durant cashing in.
Josh Giddey has great length on the glass for a guard, and I like the Over on 6.5 rebounds for the former Thunder man here. He grabbed 16 rebounds in Thursday’s overtime loss to the New York Knicks, and he’s averaging 7.3 rpg overall this season.
With Zach LaVine now in Sacramento, there are even more backcourt minutes up for grabs in Chicago, and that could mean an uptick in court time for Giddey. I expect him to be a factor on the boards against a Phoenix team that’s been outrebounded in all eight games this month.

Suns vs Bulls spread and Over/Under analysis
- The Suns enter as road favorites, having won nine of their last 10 matchups against the Bulls, but Phoenix is just 19-35-1 ATS this season and arrives with an ugly 10-18 road mark.
- Chicago is 3-7 in its last 10 games and is just 10-19 this year at United Center.
- The Over is 7-3 in the visitors’ past 10 contests, and it’s been a winning ticket in five of Chicago’s last seven games.
- The Bulls have hit the Under in 20 of their last 32 outings.
