Against the spread (ATS) pick
The Warriors have really turned it on recently, as this team has won and covered in four of its last five. One of those wins came against Milwaukee — without Giannis Antetokounmpo — and another was against Denver. The biggest reason Golden State has caught fire recently is that Steph Curry has gone scorched Earth as of late.
Curry followed up a 53-point performance against the Nuggets on Monday by scoring 42 points in only 29 minutes against the Thunder last night. If Golden State is going to cover in this one, Curry is going to have to get hot again here. He should be able to do just that, as the Cavaliers don’t have anybody that can guard him.
The Cavaliers also happen to be extremely banged up at the moment. Cleveland has had key rotation pieces going in and out of the lineup in recent weeks, and the team’s backcourt of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland is not in great shape right now. Without those two at full health, it’s hard to predict the Cavaliers will keep things close against anybody right now. They did beat the Hornets last night, but Charlotte doesn’t have anybody as good as Curry.
PREDICTION: Warriors -9.0 (-110)
Over/Under pick
The Cavaliers were defending at a high level early in the year, but that hasn’t been the case as of late. Each of Cleveland’s last five games has gone Over the total, and the team now hosts a red-hot Warriors team. Curry should get it going offensively in this one, and his teammates have a good chance of pitching in. Meanwhile, the Cavs have a decent shot at turning in a solid offensive performance, too.
PREDICTION: Over 224.5 (-110)
Player prop pick
Curry is averaging 39.5 points per game on 54.9 percent shooting from the field and 46.2 percent shooting from the outside since the start of April. Over the last three games, he’s scored a total of 133 points and has hit a ridiculous 29 shots from deep. Curry is eventually going to cool down, but Steve Kerr did pull him last game to give him some rest, so he should come out locked and loaded against the Cavaliers.
Cleveland has been miserable as of late, so it’s hard to imagine them really getting in his way here. The only thing that can stop Curry at this point is Curry. He occasionally gets cold — like everyone else — but it’s unlikely that happens here.
PREDICTION: Steph Curry Over 33.5 (-110)
