Warriors vs Hawks Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The Golden State Warriors are hitting the road and they start off their trip without Steph Curry which leaves Jimmy Butler to keep the Dubs steady away from home as they take on the Atlanta Hawks.

The Warriors will be without Steph Curry tonight when they kick off their six-game road trip at State Farm Arena. Fortunately, Golden State has Jimmy Butler to pick up the slack against a Hawks team that’s won six of its last 10.

My Warriors vs. Hawks predictions expect Butler to do it all. Read my NBA picks to see why you should take the Over on Butler’s combo prop.

Warriors vs Hawks prediction

My best bet: Jimmy Butler Over 14.5 rebounds and assists (-115 at bet365)

My analysis
Jimmy Butler has brought life to a Golden State Warriors team that was treading water, and he’ll continue to lead the charge for the Dubs. Since joining the team, Butler has averaged 17.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists. He’s scoring at a similar clip to his early-season play with the Heat, but he’s taken things up a notch as a rebounder and especially as a facilitator.

Over his last eight, Butler has turned up his production significantly, averaging 18.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists. In that span, he’s hit the Over on this combo line three times, posting exactly 14 rebounds and assists in two more. He’s gone Over in two straight. Across his last three, Butler has posted nine rebounds and 9.3 dimes.

Over the last two weeks, Butler ranks fifth in the Association in assists per game, and he posted double-digit assists in each of his last two games. Those two games included a Curry absence and Thursday’s matchup with Toronto in which Curry left early with a hip injury.

Over the last 10 games, the Atlanta Hawks have allowed the fourth-most assists overall and rank middle-of-the-pack in rebounds allowed. Butler will be asked to take on a larger role as a scorer, but with Curry out, Dyson Daniels will likely draw the Butler assignment. The steals leader may be able to slow down Butler, opening him up to find teammates at an elite level, as he’s done in recent contests.

As a member of the Heat, Butler regularly found success against the Hawks. In his last two trips to Atlanta, he delivered lines of 25/8/9 and 34/3/3.

I was tempted to roll with Butler’s PRA line of 37.5 for -105 odds, but Butler has been most effective as a rebounder and playmaker than as a scorer as of late, so that’s the prop I’ll target.

Warriors vs Hawks same-game parlay

Jimmy Butler Over 14.5 rebounds and assists

Onyeka Okongwu double-double

Jonathan Kuminga 15+ points

Okongwu has averaged 14.5 points and 9.8 rebounds since joining the starting lineup in late January. Post All-Star break, he’s upped those numbers to 15.3 points and 10.4 rebounds, and he’s posted a double-double in seven of his last 10. The Warriors have allowed opposing centers to average 20.9 points and 16 rebounds on the season, and Okongwu will continue to operate as Atlanta’s go-to big man with such a thin frontcourt roster.

Kuminga has appeared in five straight games for Golden State, averaging 13.4 points in that span. His scoring line is set at 17.5, but that’s far too high for a guy still playing on a minutes restriction. The Hawks have allowed the most points to forwards this season at 24.1, and I’ll happily take the alt scoring line to add to this parlay.
